Oh yeah, how does that actually work? I mean here you start at uni for a specific type of bachelors (e.g. electrical engineer or maybe physics) and that's it. You either pass classes and make it or you're out :/
@dot_Sp0T here I just went in as 'undecided', supposedly I had two years to stay that way before I had to pick a major. I picked CS once I found out how fun it was
weird. Yeah, at least where I went there were enough 'core' requirements to keep me busy for a couple years, and then they double-counted for my major once I picked it
@dot_Sp0T Here most (not all) unis have what are called "General Education classes," classes they expect every major (with exceptions) to take, like a couple of science courses, a couple of English courses, a couple of math courses, etc, etc.
@Green I'm curious how much recoil (backward force) could be cut from a system if the force was harnessed to drive something forward with roughly the same momentum, so the forward force almost equaled the backward force:
@NexTerren Ah. Thats what I'm curious about. The mass being accelerated toward the right would have a roughly equal effect toward the left, as you say. I'm curious if the leftward force could be turned around using hydraulics or other mechanical means to move it back right, canceling out the leftward drive.

@DaaaahWhoosh you can shift energy to other forms, but the momentum is a primal low-level vector quantity that is absolutely conserved. Throwing something forward makes it worse. Throwing to the side does nothing to help.
@AndyD273 Intuitively, based on your diagram, not much. The energies are the same. In your curved diagram, you're going to have the fluid pushing against the 'U' shape of the curve continuing the direction of the recoil. If anything, that U shape will make the recoil worse.
You've also lost efficiency of the gun since some of the propellant is going towards forcing the plunger backwards. Just make it solid so the expanding gases have something solid to push against.
@dot_Sp0T I started out doing Computer Science (although it was half computer science, quarter maths, quarter physics) and then decided I couldn't live without physics, so started physics in second year without having to start all over again :) Now I seem(?) to be doing something that's a bit of a mixture of lots of things
Also, calculating proppelant charges is hard enough with a single moving plunger (the round itself) without adding in another one from your recoil system.
@NexTerren well, they're concentrated. That instrument is hella difficult to play. It also seems to be TV from around the 70s, so people were proud to be in front of the camera and did their best to look presentable and serious

Your first failure point is likely to be fuel. OK, technically the batteries would drain out first, but if you have fuel you can get those recharged in most cases....
@DaaaahWhoosh Off and on. The entire group of guys I played with (except kind of one) burned out on it over literally a one week span when I was offline. Without a group to play (at least occasionally) with it was a lot less fun. I don't mind solo play as long as occasionally I play with people I know.
@DaaaahWhoosh Rook's a nice guy to have. Can't mess up with him (as long as you have two braincells to rub together) and then you can do just about anything you want.

@James Okay, fine. Explaining a joke is like dissecting a frog... "Valkyrie" is one of the counter terrorists operators (each have unique gadgets, semi-unique guns, other differences that really affect how they fit into the team). You only get the choice to pick her half of the time (playing defense) yet still I've played her more than any two other operators--attack or defense*--combined. "Bae" is ironically used slang for "baby," showing my fondness of the Navy Seal.
I'd like to play Valk, but I'm in the limbo of having the game, but not the first season pass, so now there's like no way for me to get the season 1 operators without re-buying the game
@NexTerren Well in Warframe you can get a character named Valkyr who can grow magical energy claws and is basically invincible, and I guess if it helps its a she...kind of
Also to be fair she's not that great if you're not on coms with a team. However she's easily the most important member of the defense if you're on coms.
@NexTerren actually, after re-searching, it seems like you can get the 'legacy operators bundle' from the in-game store, using 'R6S credits'. I'll have to see for myself, and see how much that converts to in USD, when I get home

@DaaaahWhoosh It's pretty standard in-game currency. They do a $0.01 to 1 credit deal, and buying more gets you a progressively higher % bonus of "free" credits.
Valk - Worth it, if you like teamplay or ambushing; BB - Debatable; Frost - Fun, not sure if worth it?; Buck - Super vanilla, but sometimes you don't want to worry about a fancy gadget; Hibana - The fun Thermite; Cap - Interesting but I hate his gunplay; Cav - SQUATS FOR DAYS (also she's sneaky and tons of fun once you get a handle of how to use her)
@dot_Sp0T Depends. If it's simple laziness on their part wanting to take the easy route and shift work to somebody else for only their own benefit... Maybe a stern, short correction of "Google before you ask" is warranted?
Idk, I always see it as: If someone is willing to step forward and ask how to do something, then at least put them into the right direction instead of just rebuffing them.

@JDługosz I'm just joking. Do you accept answers that go averse your idea? E.g. the fact that an animal still has its own will and at the cost and technology needed to create such an exoskeletion it becomes just more effective to actually just use make it a robot/vehicle
@JDługosz the issue is that lmgtfy is mainly used in a demeaning way, e.g. to make ridicule of people
@Shalvenay It might have to do with the time. Asking anything (decent) at a cery slow time might be more likely to be taken because there are only a few choices and a constant number of slots to fill.
@dot_Sp0T You are right that LMGTFY is a dismissive response. I'd say that the best answer empowers the asker to answer similar questions for their self in the future.
@JDługosz So I think it's safe to say it's trolling at this point given his history, especially as I believe he outright admitted to trolling in one of his comments (I don't know in what answer thread, but it was linked earlier in the chat). Maybe it is also a cry for help, but... I've never been a good one with subtleties over text communication.
@JDługosz For what it's worth (not that you need my approval or anything) I think the three day ban was the right call in response to it. It's decisive, makes a message that we've been trying to get through via text, but in the end not overbearing.
@NexTerren It reminds me of training my puppy actually! I'm hoping to help teach him how to behave in an adult mature venue, which he won’t know from his earlier experience on 4chan and the like. 30 days gone lets hope for good doesn’t help him learn.

basically, I feel like I've reached a plateau when it comes to becoming a better Stackizen. I can ask serviceable question on all of the Stacks I'm on, and have something of a voting feel for answers (question votes are something I struggle with somewhat still though). I can edit OK (although I don't have a particularly high taste for it), and answer questions well that are "in my wheelhouse", so to speak. I do interact with review queues at least on some sites and also am sporadically...
