3:46 AM
DARKNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

hahaha

Thou hast summoned the Gareth
Entertain Him

Um.
So.

I'm thinking of writing a sestina about Batman.

3:48 AM
Yes!

A seswhatnow?

Remind of the rhyme scheme, I'll do one on the fly!
abcabc?
iambic pentameter?
I have to switch computers. one moment.

The sestina has neither fixed rhyme nor fixed meter.

@KitFox - The pornographic demons were Bless Me, Father

It's six stanzas of six lines each, with each line ending in one of six words. Each stanza changes the order of the six words. Then it concludes with a triplet that contains all six words.

3:50 AM
Semi-post-apoc Detroit, followed an underpaid exorcist and his highly illegal succubus familiar

Bah. I had the six words this morning, but wasn't in a position to write them down and now I've forgotten half of them.

@KitFox Currently living in quiet terror of your judgement because I am bad at remaining calm

pardon?

@KitFox Stained glass hair story

@Lord_Gareth Don't be in terror. That's too much pressure. I started it and I enjoyed it and were I sober, I would be reading it right now.
Alas, but I am not sober, so I am having a hard time focusing on words.

3:55 AM
Might be better if I reduce it to a tritina, anyway.

BUT I can focus enough to remember that I enjoyed your writing style and that you build your stories well, and I am liking the thought that I will read this tomorrow.
When I can appreciate its nuance.

I may have more material on it then
I, ah...kinda have an interested publisher already

Gonna paste it here: docs.google.com/document/d/…

@KitFox That's the vampire book
For Pathfinder

@Lord_Gareth Sweet!
@Lord_Gareth Oop

3:57 AM

I was getting it.
pouts
Why am I pouting?
Point is, you see why you shouldn't care too much of my opinion at the moment.
I am absolutely intrigued with writing a sestina now too. Maybe not Batman.
Mostly because Batman has a repeated vowel, and somehow that's important.
Right. So. Now you have access to my supersecret sex writing blog.

mmm. If I were to write this, it'd be exploring Batman as a case study in the futility of effecting lasting change on a problem by using the tools which caused the problem.

Excellent.

@KitFox Decided to explore erotica further as a genre, didja?

@Lord_Gareth Well.
Not much.
It's rather sparse.
But it's a good goal. Hard to write well.

4:00 AM
Mm. This novel's experimenting with an idea on how readers relate to a main character in fantasy stories.

@BESW I think that's a judicious and considered use of the mystique of Batman.

Namely, it's experimenting with a character who has no name at all.

Interesting.
In my most recent novel, I have a whole timeline where the protag is nameless, identified only by pronoun, to represent her utter loss of self.

@KitFox Well, the thoughtline on my end went like this: "How much do people actually relate to deliberately strange fantasy and sci-fi names? Do they mean anything, really?"

Your character doesn't seem to have this issue.

4:02 AM
@KitFox Not this precise issue, no. It does relate to how she sees herself in relation to others. It also relates to a few other things that I don't want to spoil.

Oh I see

But she's a description because she thinks of herself as a description. "The girl with stained glass hair."

I assume they either are significant or not, very Boolean.
@Lord_Gareth I like that approach.
It seems consistent with the way we view ourselves.
Our intrinsic identity.
Although perhaps a bit more ... um ... concisely.
Oh that reminds me about my name...
I was going to change it, you see.
And done.

I do something similar in a play-by-post I'm in
When my character is being professional, soldierly, or violent, the narrative text refers to her as "Codename: GARM"
But when she's being open, frightened, shy, or vulnerable, she's Carol

Hi, I'm Carol.
Also, I'M GARM, DESTROYER OF ALL THINGS GAUNTLET!
Can I take your coat?

4:12 AM
@KitFox Wrong Garm. You want Garm, Lord of Hellhounds. Garm of the Cave, the Prince of the Fenrir, the Firstborn of Fenris. Garm Tyrslayer, Garm of the Fangs, who is chained in Niflheim and charged with ensuring that no member of the unworthy dead escapes the punishment due to their cowardice and betrayal.

Oh, that Garm.

And at the end of days, in the Twilight of the Gods, he is destined to slay the Evenhanded, Tyr, God of Justice, to avenge his father's imprisonment.

The current TMNT TV series has a similar visual cue: when its main characters are in hyper-competent ninja mode, their eyes go dead white. You can tell when something affects them strongly on a mission because their pupils snap back into place as they're shaken out of ninja mode and into teenager mode.

@BESW That's pretty cool

I was always kinda skeptical of the adolescent merchandising mutants as a kid, but this current show has me totally sold.

4:24 AM
Woo!
I liked the story. Let me know when you finish it, @Lord_Gareth

@KitZ.Fox Yaaay! Anything in particular stand out or, conversely, need work?
The silence disturbs me. Y'know @BESW, I asked you to read that story too, awhile back.

7 hours later…
11:52 AM
@KitZ.Fox Hah! I found two wobsites that'll send Wacom tablets to Guam for Wacom prices with a Wacom warranty.

Q: Creating and publishing an A3 Flowchart

Javeer BakerI have created a flowchart that has multiple textboxes, which explain various stages of a HR activity. It has been a laborious task, as I have done it with hand. When put together, the flowchart goes over two A3 pages (laid side by side). I know questions on software recommendation or the techn...
