Q: Should I use ellipses or em dashes to denote pauses in speech?

Alexandro Chen I flipped open its latch and peered inside. A—gold tooth? I flipped open its latch and peered inside. A ... gold tooth? Was it an elephant? No, elephants didn't frequent beaches. It was—a whale! Was it an elephant? No, elephants didn't frequent beaches. It was ... a whale!...

5 hours later…
5:09 PM
@KitFox How are the words coming?

5:30 PM
Slowly. I'm visiting with family right now.

ah. yeah, that'll slow things down :D

1 hour later…
7:01 PM
@MattЭллен Woo! 60 words!

@KitFox woo!

Did you read yesterday's?
I stayed up late to write it.

oh, not yet!
sorry, looking for things in the hack space

7:24 PM
@KitFox It's good. I want more

@MattЭллен Did you find her?

@KitFox no. not found what we needed

bummer
I got the pizza in the oven and I'm trying to decide whether to invite the friends I kind of invited last week.

sounds like it would be fun

Maybe, but I need to get writing done.
Also, I'm really fat.
And I'm upset by this.

7:29 PM
nah. you're not really fat.

Not really fat, but fat all the same.
I should stop drinking so much. I've been slack.

it's only, what, a ten hour cycle to where you work? ;)

Something like that.
50-odd miles.
I have no idea what my cycling speed is.

oh, eight hours then!

Also, these past two days I have felt unbelievably old. My joints are aching like nobody's business.
I think the entire lower right side of my spine is in spasm.

7:31 PM
probably just a cold.

Well, the muscles there. Not the actual spine.

And I'm very, very grumpy.

understandable

I should go take more ibuprofen right now, actually, and make a cup of tea.
Oh. Maybe I should take acetaminophen too.
Maybe it is a cold.

7:32 PM
should you mix two pain relievers?

They have different actions.
iirc, ibuprofen is a cox-2 inhibitor, and acetaminophen is a cox-1 inhibitor? Or doesn't affect cox-2 pathways anyway.

ok then.

cyclooxygenase.
It breaks down arachadonic acid.
Which is released from damaged tissues.
Don't they teach you anything in the UK?
;-)

I see.

I might be making all that up.

7:36 PM
@KitFox probably :D

Pizza's ready. Want some?

yes please :D

It's plain cheese on a whole wheat crust.

fiberous.

When you put it that way, it sounds icky.
The crust has garlic, basil, and paprika baked in.

7:40 PM
oh, sorry. I thought it would sound healthy
mmmmmmm paprika

I have no signal. This is weird.

on your phone?

I'll have to email my husband.
@MattЭллен Yeah.

Weird.
So very weird.

7:43 PM
it'll be martian moon rays

I wonder if a tower got knocked out in the storm yesterday.

speaking of which, I restarted my universe and now my APS is at 246%

omg! I forgot about my universe!

omg!
I restarted it yesterday and it's already at the milkyway

Wow!
I'm pretty bothered by not having signal. I have no other means of communicating, except via email.

7:47 PM
@KitFox are you covered in snow?

See my face? Bovvered.

you have a bovvered face

We got about a foot, maybe a little more, so like 25 cm?

35cm
30cm is a foot

Oh.
Right.
There are 12 inches in a foot.
Oh. I guess my phone just needed to reboot.

7:50 PM
ah, that old chestnut

My SMS is still acting all weird.
I should probably be writing.

yeah. write some words then your phone will start working

OK. brb
It's amazing how that works.

8:07 PM
161 words, though,
I forgot to put the teakettle on.
I guess it's time for Minecraft then.
Which kind of tea though?

redstone tea
or can you make tea from creepers?

Interesting idea.
Can we play Minecraft together?

I don't have minecraft
so in theory yes
looks like it will work on linux. I'm not sure if I have java installed
apparently I do

8:25 PM
I'm going to go play with my boys, but maybe we could play sometime.
That would be fun.
CU!

Q: Less expensive way to find pictures for a visual dictionary

user71884I want to make a picture dictionary, and as it is known, pictures are expensive to buy on the internet. So, if anybody knows a less expensive way to buy pictures for a project, like mine, demanding a large number of pictures. Some people may suggest working with an illustrator, but I think this w...
