Well, actually, what led me to explore determinism was my own problems.

Well, I don't know much, but it's like we say our life depends on the choices we make, right?

But you see, those choices we make are dependent on our physical and psychological makeup.

So, in some sense, although we make choices, the choice is already made beforehand.

I think that's one type and part of determinism.

But more importantly, what led me to thinking about this kind of thing is that although I have tried hard to solve my mental problems for many years, I still have not solved it.

So I was wondering whether it was determined beforehand when or if I will ever be well.

It's not some god or supernatural power at work. It's just the natural principles of cause and effect.

Yes. A good reason why I got out of neuroscience. Start thinking about that stuff too much and it'll make you crazy.

So, I usually dig my ears with cotton buds.

I have no problem with the left ear.

But half the time when I try to do it with the right ear, the wax gets pushed in further.

So now I am having a blocked right ear which will clear in a few days.

There was once it took two months to clear.

Sometimes, I feel that there is some evil force making things worse for me. Why do I say that?

Because on several occasions, something that is very unlikely to happen happened, and made my mental problems much worse.

Because then you can focus your thinking on a quantity.

Rather than trying to cope with randomness.

Yeah, randomness, but some of these incidents seem to go beyond probability, like winning a lottery.
