12:00 AM
I'm a bit stressed out these days.

user174558
What happened? You need to see Dr Loy.

user116848
Thanks. hehe.

user174558
Is it a girl issue?

user116848
I have exams in Dec but my preparation kinda sucks.

user174558
If you fail, what happens?

user116848
12:01 AM
@JasperLoy I wish. Well that's a part of stress too, haha.

user116848
I better shut my mouth.

user174558
No need to shut your mouth.

user116848
@JasperLoy Nothing. I get depressed.

user174558
@Arrowfar Well, it's OK to fail, fail all you want!

user116848
Yeah I know.

user174558
12:04 AM
@Metamaterialgirl must be busy installing LO now, lol.

Thinking of hitting the grocery store soon. Slow on writing today.

user174558
@Metamaterialgirl Get some bananas!

Little bit o' potassium never hurt anyone, true.

user116848
I like bananas.

@MattE.Эллен What? That's weird.

user116848
12:16 AM
Thanks for the edit Kit.

Sure thing.
@Metamaterialgirl Did you go out?

Eh, not quite yet. Procrastinating.

Well then you should write some.
:D

Fighting the 'it's night time therefore i should be done with my day' winter thing.
Yes, you are right...
Is that a 'let's sprint'?

it's nighttime so I should be playing video games.
Yes. Let's sprint.

12:27 AM
Okay. gimme a sec to get my tea.

user116848
@KitZ.Fox Here:

user116848
> he Isis is the name given to the part of the River Thames above Iffley Lock which flows through the university city of Oxford, England, past Christ Church Meadow

user116848
The Isis is the name given to the part of the River Thames above Iffley Lock which flows through the university city of Oxford, England, past Christ Church Meadow and the focal point of rowing for Oxford University. == History == Historically, and especially in Victorian times, gazetteers and cartographers insisted that the river Thames was correctly named the River Isis from its source until Dorchester-on-Thames, where the river meets the River Thame and becomes the "Thame-isis" (from which the Latin, or pre-Roman Celtic, name Tamesis is derived), subsequently abbreviated to Thames; curr...

Confusing. Thought it was Thames all the way down.
Well. TIL

user116848
Me too.

12:29 AM
Ditto.
Back, have tea.
@KitZ.Fox Ready to sprint?

I guess it's a good thing when my own writing sucks me down a rabbit hole.
Yes, I'm ready. 413

Steady
5:32. GO
(15 mins)

12:47 AM
@KitZ.Fox aaaaan ding.
352.

362

I'm gonna end up with like 6 versions of 5 different scenes here.
Oh, nice!
You're consistently beating me, you know.

really?

I think so. It usually seems like you beat me on word count except when I have a flow episode.

It's close though. Probably just because you have to type ding! and stuff.

12:48 AM
Eh, still counts.

OK I gotta pee then go again?

user174558
Pee? Yay!

user116848
lol

Yarrr.
...I didn't know that peeing was a subject of celebration, except maybe to someone who was just cured of a UTI...

user116848
Here it is 5:49 AM.

user116848
12:51 AM
I'm still awake.

user174558
@Metamaterialgirl I have a weird joy in me, a joy that surpasses all understanding.

Oof, I've had a few of those days. Melatonin is your friend @Arrowfar.

user116848
@Metamaterialgirl Heh thanks. I love your knowledge about different subjects. It is kinda awesome.

user174558
@Arrowfar I would say exercise is your friend.

Heh, thanks, though I don't think Melatonin is that unknown. I just started using it a few weeks ago because I have a tendency to stay up later and later each night.

user174558
12:54 AM
@Metamaterialgirl I loved talking about pee and poo in the English room.

user116848
@JasperLoy I do that sometimes. I like to run.

user174558
@Arrowfar Well, if you do something naughty, you might be able to sleep too, hehe.

user116848
But these days I'm not running. I dunno why.

user116848
@JasperLoy Lol!

@Arrowfar is it something like insomnia, where you just have a hard time sleeping?
A hard time STARTING to sleep, I should say.

user174558
12:55 AM
@Arrowfar I am not sure if it works for the other sex though.

@JasperLoy Pretty sure you and arrowfar are the same sex.

user116848
Yeah I am a guy.

user116848
And straight.

user116848
:)

user174558
@KitZ.Fox I mean what I meant, hehe. Yes, I know he is.

user116848
12:56 AM
So where is this conversation going? ;-)

@Metamaterialgirl Sounds like it works for you? Glad to hear it; I wish melatonin worked for my dad.

user174558
@Arrowfar It ends.

@Arrowfar Well, if you have access to melatonin, I recommend it. I use a brand that is chewable, so it gets into your system quickly; the drill is, let it dissolve under your tongue, go to bed and lie there in the dark, don't keep yourself up reading or playing games on your phone, and it'll kick in eventually.
@BESW Hmmm, I did hear of a person who had that same issue, but benefitted from taking it 5 to 6 hours before they were supposed to sleep, instead of just before.

Yup, tried that.

Dunno if you've tried that already of course.

12:58 AM
I tend/tended to use benadryl, pseudoephedrine, and-or guaifenisen.

user174558
Any antihistamine would do.

And sometimes alcohol, to intensify the effect.

Yow. That's some hardcore insomnia, Kit :(

user116848
@Metamaterialgirl I see, nice. Thanks!

Benadryl is best.

12:59 AM
Sorry your dad has trouble getting down @BESW, that's rough for him AND for you I'll bet.

user174558
I used to drink benadryl almost every day as a child for cough.

@Metamaterialgirl I had it bad one time. Three months of alternating about 5 to 6 days of 2 hours of sleep maybe and one day of sleeping for 22 hours.

user174558
And now I just take my lunatic meds every night.

GAH. That's worse than my mom's sleep patterns, and hers are fairly awful.

We're trying something a bit stronger now, and it has some effect but not much. Stepping things up slowly 'cause when he reacts badly to something, he reacts very badly.

1:00 AM
The pattern is familiar though: deprive, deprive, deprive CRASH

@BESW Yeah, that's tricky. Is he taking serotonin?

user174558
@Metamaterialgirl It's nice to crash.

Yeah, @BESW, I hope you find something that works and doesn't give untenable side effects.

@KitZ.Fox Yup.

So it makes him psychotic when you try new stuff?

user174558
1:03 AM
Last year I did not sleep for 27 hours @KitZ.Fox, after doing naughty things thrice, lol.

@JasperLoy Seriously, masturbation is not a "naughty thing".

user174558
@KitZ.Fox I know. Just to use a euphemism.

It's perfectly normal and most all sexually mature animals do it.

user116848
Lol! You guys are fun :D

user116848
Sorry I couldn't stop laughing. hehe!

1:05 AM
Not sleeping for 27 hours will make you pretty crazy though. That's not good for you.

user174558
But these days, when I take so much meds, my libido crashes.

Are you ready to sprint again, milady?

Yarrrr!
Ready?

user116848
@Metamaterialgirl So "Yar" is a word in Urdu too and can be used in the exact same sense.

user116848
1:06 AM
Pretty much.

Oh, that's...amazingly convenient, heh.

775 Ready

Steady at 6:06

user116848
Like when we are frustrated with someone etc. we say "Yar!"

1:22 AM
@KitZ.Fox Pingy pingy!

1142 - 775 = 367

you killed me.
nice
More?

It's funny, the pattern seems to be you beating me most of the time by a decent bit, and once in awhile me blowing the word count out of the water.

I seem to be right around 360 no matter what I do.

1:24 AM
Hm, Maybe a 5 minute brain break then another one?

OK. Let me know when you are ready.

Yiss :)
Words I need to see become part of the lexicon:
@KitZ.Fox Okay. I think I have one more in me.

no you posted rabbit hole i must follow

LOL, okay, ping me when YOU'RE ready.
And sorry about that, dem rabbit holes are tricky.

ok.
done.
let's do it.

1:33 AM
Wow, you're a fast reader O.O

I'd already started.

Ah, si si.
Okay, ready?

yis

Steady at 6:35
GO

1:50 AM
@KitZ.Fox Kadingle!

1772 - ... crap
It was maybe 400. Probably about 360.

527 here.
You're nice and consistent.
I'm doing lots of words but honestly I don't know how many of them are even worth keeping.
Definitely will need a lot of tweaking.

One more, or are you done for now?

Eh, I think I need to think and figure out what the hell I'm doing before doing more of it.
'think I need to think'
see, this is why I'm Meta.

haha ok

1:55 AM
Maybe time to do some timeline exercises or something.

Here this is what your character needs.

Rich, earthy organic emulsate.
Kit, you need to be writing romance novels.

I am really, really bad at erotica.
You've read the cake story. Seriously. It only get worse from there.
Although maybe I'll do it next year and get rich.

No, see, this is WHY you need to do romance novels. It is a field ripe for parody. It has grown fat and complacent.

Romance parody. Hmm.

1:58 AM
We need hard core preternatural goblin and kobold romance, where the goblin and the kobold are both fighting over the same middle-aged chartered accountant.

Well, I should probably finish this one first.

Yes, yes you should.

Well, I had that one I started, about the demon possession.

Refresh my memory?

Where the demon possesses a girl because it wants to get with some other girl.
I can't remember what my plan was with that one, except that of course possessing people means lots of sex options.

2:00 AM
Yiss. The demon should actually be a total prude, and keeps possessing people with weird fetishes, and ends up horrified and disgusted by all this stuff it is forced to participate in.
'OMG YOU ARE EATING CHERRIES FROM BETWEEN HER TOES??? AAAAAARGH I'M OUT OF HERE'
'WHY ARE WE IN THE BATHROOM WHAT ARE THESE VIDEO CAMERAS DOING HERE--OMG NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO'

It was going to be more like "Wait, are you seducing me? Oh. OH! Oh. yeah, ok."
Like having to convince a demon to take your soul.

Hah! Also good.

No, really! You want it!
Kinda full right now.
But! But!

Ignore that one grungy patch, I swear this is a top-quality soul!

hahaha
ok I'm off to take a break.
bbl

2:04 AM
Alrighty. Take care :)
I swear I'm gonna go to the grocery store soon.

2 hours later…
3:47 AM
Did you go to the grocery store, @Metamaterialgirl?

4:30 AM
Yep! Got my noms. :)

Q: What is the line between a nod to another book and plagurism?

Spencer RuportFirst off my characters, the story and the setting are all entirely different than the work I want to make a nod to. In this one scene one of the characters is experiencing something that is exactly like a well known situation in another work. A good comparison might be: "Were you listening to ...

Q: Present tense novel with past tense flashbacks

LindaI'm currently writing a mystery novel in the third person present tense. I chose this to create more suspense as I like the idea that the reader is discovering things at the same time as the protagonist and the outcome is unknown. The story starts with new information coming to light about an un...

And happy Day day to everyone else :)

7:55 PM
Hi,

Hey Kit! Happy T-day :)

Ditto.
How is yours?

Quiet. Got invited to a friend's house for T but begged off due to all the snow happening. So doing lots of Skype chatting w/family and friends under a cozy blanket in a robe.

Oh sounds soooo nice.

Yesh :3
You running around for yours?

8:04 PM
Not at the moment. Mostly done eating.

Oh yeah, you're 2 hours later than I am.
Mmm, post-turkey sessile states.

I'm debating between napping and writing.

Take a power nap while thinking about your story, then write.

Q: Including text file name in footer of compiled Scrivener document?

dlfjbkdjsbfkasjlkfI'm working on a short story collection using scrivener. Each story is one text file in the scrivener document. I'd like to include the story name in the footer, next to the page number. Is that possible? Any ideas? I've tried googling around, but I can't find anything. I assume it's in the Comp...

oh hey @KitZ.Fox. I think I'll beg off for today; still doing family calls and whatnot, and I feel like I need to try and boost my quality on this next batch o' words.

OK
Happy T-day.
