Q: How do you know if for book is ready?

Alyssa BynumOK, my mom says that my books are really good and that people will enjoy them. I know parents say things to their kids to keep their hopes and dreams alive but I was wanting to know how do you know if your book will really be enjoyable for everyone? How do you tell if your book is ready for the w...

5:32 PM
Good afternoon

And a heart snxxxxx to you too.

good turnout for yesterday's exercise

indeed

5:55 PM
@KitZ.Fox So someone told me a horrible secret. I feel like they handed me a 20lb weight and said "wear this as a hat for the next little while".

Aww. Are they quitting? Have cancer?
Will it help to tell me?

It would help, but I feel that I shouldn't.
<deleted>

But I'm not real.
Oh
You can't even tell your wife?
omg your best friends are getting divorced!
and one of them doesn't know it yet!

I'm not at liberty to say.

That's really difficult, @Mr.Shiny. I'm sorry you are carrying that burden.

5:58 PM
I already feel better just mentioning it.

I hope that whoever told you received a benefit significant enough that it makes your difficulty worthwhile.

Oh, probably
In the end it will be fine.
But I've been sorta stewing all day.

You need some Tim Minchin. That would help.

I've been listening to Lorde.

Wrapped in foil.

awesome. new earworm

I don't remember the last time I listened to non electronic music

Lorde's songs are mostly about being a teenager. But she has both good songwriting and authentic, meaningful lyrics. It's a long time since I was her age but I can relate.

yeah, that's how I feel about it too.

I think I listened to some Simon and Garfunkel a week or two ago.
They're pretty good.

6:03 PM
some stuff I listen to makes my eyes roll really hard, that desperately in-love, heart-broken stuff.
I guess that makes me middle aged.

I just like his voice.
I'm the complete opposite of my sister.
She's really into SoaD stuff.

"This is a song about prejudice... and the language of prejudice... and the power of the, er, language of prejuice. It's called - Prejudice!"

rofl
man, I love that guy.

My sister showed me a clip from a SoaD concert.

What is SoaD?
System of a Down?

6:04 PM
Yup

I forgot they existed.

@KitZ.Fox I think a lot of the love songs they make these days are really bad. They were probably bad when we were young, but young people have no taste, I've concluded.

whippersnappers

Darron went up and told the whole crowd to stop interpreting their songs.
Then one of them said no
And he went completely bersek.

what was one of their hits?

6:05 PM
Soldier Side.
Only one I ever enjoyed.
Only time they were ever mellow.

sounds familiar. half a tick.

I don't even enjoy their music.
Too much 'we hate everything'
Honestly, Buck Cherry has more chill.

Well, the point isn't to be chill.

Hm, it seems I don't know a single System of a Down song.

But there is a pint known as:
"Too metal"
'4 me'

6:08 PM
I know, right? It's weird. I've heard of them. But nothing looks or sounds familiar.

my dad just passed down his music onto us.
I never really liked his songs though

@KitZ.Fox They're not that radio friendly

The Grateful Dead and SoaD never really appealed to me.
I really liked Soundgarden and Alice in Chains though
Still do.

Chris Cornell has ridiculously amazing vocals.

My uncle is really into rock

6:09 PM
Incredible talent with vocal control.

He showed me this video of this guy.

Soundgarden has, IMO, one great album. The rest of their albums I was kinda meh about. But I love Superunkown, it's one of my fav albums ever.

Playing two guitars at once.
I'm that guy who likes two songs from each band.
Found a make your own lenny face creator

I love this room
It's not just limited to the stackexchange.

most of the writers.se people don't come here.

Too bad.

6:12 PM
hopefully they're busy writing :)

Hm... I haven't said I miss Jasper yet.
That's a new record.

So I conclude that SoaD isn't really for me.
I'm not quite sure why. It's a little to punk for me, I think.

6:24 PM
It's a little too screaming without point for me.
No melody, no thumping, just -- shrugs
g2g
ciao

Q: Film script - writing scene transition from TV Broadcast to story reality

SpiffeahI'm writing a script that has a news broadcast sequence to establish the background of the story, and then we see the main character is watching this news broadcast to transition from worldbuilding to POV. As a director i'd want the news story to play fullscreen then the camera pulls back from...
