Q: Is writing even profitable

user10166I know that money isn't a good reason to write, but I am wondering if writing as a new author is even profitable anymore. What makes a book successful? It seems less that it is the story or prose and more "Oprah's Book Club" or some other major publicity. See: 50 Shades Series...horrible books ...
