12:00 AM
You said you were a beginner in Octave, so I was puzzled as to why you said you don't know Python.

1 hour later…
1:21 AM
@DanielSank inregion and istrack

1:38 AM
@Asmyldof I'm not at my computer but I'm pretty sure that didn't work.
Inregion doesn't pick up tracks.

I am looking for an outdoor radio with Ethernet that has >150 Mbps with a range of at least 1000 ft in poor weather conditions. Anyone have any suggestions?

2:36 AM
@DanielSank InRegion qualifies everything in that region.
AND IsTrack excludes anything not a track

3:10 AM
@Asmyldof False.
I'm sitting at my computer trying it. InRegion does not catch tracks.

hello
anyone there

@DanielSank Then why does it work absolutely 100% fine for setting 4/4 under my BGA?

@Asmyldof I really wish I knew. I must be doing something wrong, but I have no clue what.

Did you make very clear note of the word Absolute when I first mentioned InRegion?

Nope.
But the docs say that InRegionAbsolute is an alias for InRegion, and I have just checked that the absolute version does not pick up tracks.
On a related note: what's the current compliance of a GPIO pin usually called in data sheets? I'm trying to find it here.

3:34 AM
@DanielSank You are missing the point as to what is absolute

I searched both chat logs for the word "absolute", read everything there, and I still don't know what you're talking about.
I'm reasonably sure that I am both literate and at least mildly intelligent...

3:58 AM
Are you actually measuring from the absolute origin?

hi all!

zZzZzZ

I am a beginner in Chua circuit like I want a bit of motivation about it any reference any one can cite ,it would be great!

4 hours later…
7:54 AM
@Asmyldof you got that stuff lying around?

8:12 AM
@BAYMAX if you need to get for external motivation you are doing it wrong. Either you are interested in it, or you check out carpentry.

8:39 AM
@PlasmaHH Chemistry is a science, you can science it up as well as any DC/DC design

6 hours later…
2:42 PM
Hi. I have a guitar amp, but when I plug it in, it makes electrical noise. Is this type of question suited here? I assume not, but is there anything on SE where it would be?

3:04 PM
@MyDaftQuestions have you checked for a pin 1 problem?

@Shalvenay, I've done nothing... I don't know where to start. The forums are full of advice about too much distortion (gain) or noise gates etc. As such, I suspect I'm using the wrong Google search... Let me red the pin 1 problem
I'd hope it's not a problem with the gear as it's all pro. Plus, it only appears to be an issue in my house, not in the studio :s

3:17 PM
This is nothing to do with what I've wired by the way

3:33 PM
If your guitar amp makes noise, could it be you need guitar lessons?

... I've been playing for 30 years so I hope not :)
I put a post on another site, but this site allows me to add the audio file - if anyone can provide any feedback, it would be amazingly helpful :) gearslutz.com/board/so-many-guitars-so-little-time/…

that sounds...almost arc-like
are you sure your neighbor isn't welding all the time in their shop? ;)

Can you expand on what this means:
To test, I have a cable from my amp head to my cab

3:48 PM
It means there is an output from the head. I have a cable from the 8ohm output of my amp head to my speaker cabinet

Do you live in the middle of the Chernobil disaster area?
Just checking the bases here

:) No, nothing like that. Just north of London
I will try it in another room in the house as this may provide a clue (or not)

It sounds like a dirty pot would make in a poorly designed amp, which can also be caused by faulty wires or bad contacts on low-power paths

Yes, I agree with that. The amp is many years old, despite being posh!

I.e. it's unlikely to be in the 8Ohm path (but not impossible)
Any wires have any kinks?

Other than a penchant to get hot from powerful signals

No, there is only 1 external wire (wire in my control) between amp and cab, and I changed it. I used a cable in the 2 different 8ohm outputs (same issue) and then another cable and tried both outputs... same issue

Then it must be before the things you tried.
Likeliest is in the signal path, not in power
It may very well be specific to your home studio set-up
But it may also be something came loose on transport
Cannot be excluded at this point

Yes, that is a good point...
But I've don't remember ever hearing this issue when I rehearse
I will try it in another room (tomorrow) ... Regardless, is this type of question on topic here?

Hence the coming of the loose and or the other setupness
Not unless you first read the rules for posting carefully and make sure the things you have done and how you describe them fits them
i.e. the post you wrote on the gear site will be closed very quickly

3:55 PM
Sorry to not be clear. This issue has occurred for a while (months). I've only just posted as it only occurs in my home studio. So day 1 in studio, it makes noise. Day 2 in rehearshal then no noise. Day 3 in studio it makes noise. Day 4 in rehearhsal, no noise etc :S
Understood, thank you for clarifying @Asmyldof

In part because it's not clear to non audio-tech EEs, but also because it doesn't offer a set of steps and test done, which might enable useful help rather than discussion in the dark

OK, I see. Yes, I will need to do more testing I think to provide a more focused question
Sadly, I have to go but thank you so much for your help. At least it appears as if it's nothing obvious . Have a good day/night

We really don't like wasting a lot of time asking and refreshing and some of us (me included when I'm cranky) use that as a close reason
Enjoy your saturday

You too

thx

4:04 PM
Thx is obsolete

Excuse me for interrupting, but I wasn't sure if this would've been the right place to ask, but I've been reading about Gravitational Models and they mention something about "geopotential models of the Earth consisting of spherical harmonic coefficients complete to degree and order 360". Would asking a question about such be on topic here?
"20th degree and order EGM2008 model is used to calculate gravity gradients" This is another example

@Edlothiad Not on EE, maybe on Earth Science?

@ThePhoton Ok thanks, it was just because it's for a project I'm doing on my course and thought it may be appropriate.

Maybe on Computational Science.

Ok, I'll have a look
Thanks again, and have a nice day!

5 hours later…
9:03 PM
hm, it seems to be harder than I thought to find a description of what should happen when you mix coppersulfate, sodiumpotassiumtartrate and acetic acid...

9:39 PM
@PlasmaHH Should or does?
