3:15 AM
Good morning all. :-)

@ShwetaSekuri Good morning. Who do we anathema pray for today?

:-)
Ummm .. actually yesterday it was raining a lot so there are some people who don't have homes so they might lived in rain whole night...
So let's pray them :-)
@NickAlexeev

5:19 AM
Ooo no. Please someone tell me how to change this
I use this chat room in my cellphone, so it was displaying just messages but now it is like how we see in laptop :-( I don't want this
To see the messages here I have to zoom in every time . :-(
Do we have any app for this? I have searched for that but didn't found

6:03 AM
Problem solved but it would be great if any app.

7:23 AM
@abdullahkahraman Hi

@ShwetaSekuri hello

How are you?

7:35 AM
I'm fine thanks, how are you?

7:45 AM
I'm good... and yes I liked the link which you shared, it's really nice.
Actually sometimes there are some seminars will be organized in my college and students should give seminar on any topic. I think it will be good (the one you shared) isn't it?

@ShwetaSekuri Yup

8:09 AM
well, I have one doubt.
imgur.com/twErnok I was solving some online questions so I didn't understand this.
What I assumed was.. current flow takes place when the diode is forward biased and according to ohms law, voltage is proportional to current so why my answer was wrong?
Anyone please explain this.

Well, diode is a semiconductor and applying only ohm's law doesn't work

8:25 AM
so how the fourth option is correct?

According to this curve:
See, after some point voltage almost remains at about 0.55V

So I should concentrate on the steady state response also ... Hmm.. OK.
@abdullahkahraman Thanks...

You're welcome

8:40 AM

10:09 AM
yay, fridge works again...

@PlasmaHH What was the problem?

@Asmyldof cooleant (?) leak

@jippie No, because the variation in requirements and specs of possible co-buyers was too wide combined with the very limited lengths needed. Where I left it (still intend to pick back up when I have time in a week or two) that would have meant having 10's of meters of 5 different kinds in stock for who knows how long
@PlasmaHH That's exceptionally stupid on a Fridge that should have been properly QC'ed

I have a question about arbitrary waveform generators (AWGs). I'm working with one (AWG5014C) that has a sampling rate of 1.2 GSamples, so I expect it to be able to produce reliable spectra up to 600 MHz (the Nyquist rate). However, when I have it produce a white noise signal, it is not flat up to 600 MHz at all, as shown in i.imgur.com/8z9pRVS.png. My question is what is the cause of this dropoff
Should I make a standalone post for this, or is this something trivial that always happens and is widely known? It seems to be outside the range of my google skills. Note that you can ignore the first few points in the spectrum, those are artifacts from my spectrum analyzer with which I measured the spectrum (the cause of which I am also unsure of)

@Asmyldof indeed, however it was manufactured like 1 month before I got it, and it took 3 months for it to have noticeable effects, so the leak must have been very small. he was not able to find it with leak detection spray. might have also been caused by bumping during delivery, who knows..

10:32 AM
@user3183724 semi related: do the following experiment. Take some squared paper, take 10 squares (1s in time). now draw the voltage that would be output by an AWG with 10Hz sample frequency outputting a 5Hz sine wave.

10:48 AM

It says it is for charity
And there are lots of very rich people

that watch slomo guys on youtube?

yeah, why not?

chicks and cocaine...

11:01 AM
@PlasmaHH I have to admit that I am not sure what this would illustrate

11:16 AM
@user3183724 it would look a bit like this: i.stack.imgur.com/veJ8Z.png

1 hour later…
12:24 PM
@PlasmaHH Elementary difference: You can deduct charity from tax

12:45 PM
@Asmyldof alimony not?

Dunno. No women can stand me for longer than a dinner or having drinks, so the alimony inducing follow-up is unknown legal/tax terrain for me

1:05 PM
@PlasmaHH So it is kind of like that you do not have enough points to fully reproduce the signal? I'm not sure how to translate this into a dropoff that starts basically from even 100 MHz
@PlasmaHH Ah, if I understand it better it is the fact that the DAC reconstructs the analog waveform by holding the sample value constant until the next sample occurs, pretty much
What Ive found is that I can apply a sort of inverse filter to the digital noise pattern to effectively cancel out this offset. I'm trying to think if it is really fair to think about the process in the AWG as a filter, and if so how I could classify it..

1:33 PM
mahaha @MickLH was flagged

user146722
@Asmyldof Can you believe I got suspended for saying "I will smash babies" as a joke

@user3183724 I am not sure to what degree it explains what you are seeing, or at all, but it was mostly referring to the 1.2GS/s so 600MHz sine is fine. That is definetly not the case. There is a reason why people want the sample rate of an oscilloscope to be 5-10 times the analogue bandwidth

@SelflessPsychopath I can, I was banned because I told @PlasmaHH people of his national persuasion weren't allowed to comment over at super-user, as a response to his saying his comments always get deleted.
I actually considered not returning for a week, but nobody would have noticed but me

Yeah, you have to be careful here about the thought police

user146722
I'm fairly used to getting in trouble for my jokes being taken out of context at this point

user146722
1:44 PM
I mean, you see I have made provisions :P

But I feel pity for those that actually flag such things
well, maybe not, do I have feelings?

Stupidification of society, because we all need to pander to the lowest common denominator

yep, thats it

ref: Brexit, Trump.... US in general

Who am I, and if yes, how many?

@PlasmaHH That makes sense. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere for a full explanation

hohum
The WriteProtect Mask in Firmware spells "FOFFCOFFEE" ... What's a Fof Coffee?
The fun of writing auto-generators... you sometimes discover minor-LOLs

@Asmyldof one that makes you utter the sound "foff", spit it back into the cup and leave it at the desk, until the next guy comes, tries a sip, utters foff and the cycle repeats

2:04 PM
:-)

4:24 PM
Hello everyone...
wanna see one funny pic???

5:04 PM
@Asmyldof Wait, you're saying that by making asinine jokes we can avoid being like Trump? I think you are missing the point.
Or you're saying you'd want Trump to come run your country?

5:29 PM
@ThePhoton You are misreading that. Possibly because you're USican

@Asmyldof But earlier you were (mildly) cheesed off for being banned for (mildly) Trump-like behavior.

@ThePhoton No I was banned for making a joke, which clearly some fiffle-brain found offensive, because everything is offensive and scary now, because we all want to make life easy for the stupid people and stupid people don't understand nuance

@Asmyldof What do you think Trump thinks he's doing when he makes racist and sexist remarks?

Trump is old-world offensive
Also because Trump is old world stupid
And he get's all QQ when someone says that to him and then he goes into a flame war, because his tiny little baby brain got ouchies for a little bit.
And that is okay, because at some point being stupid became okay - something society should adapt to, rather than something we had to try and fix as best we could
As short ago as my high-school days a teacher could just say to a student (over here, I think in the US and similar cultures it may have already been taboo then) "You didn't pass, because you're too stupid about this subject, and you're too stupid to pass, because you refuse to pay attention when I'm trying to explain". These days... I think even here that's a fire-able offense.
The sentence is awkward in English because the nuance of how it'd be said in Dutch felt... required here

5:45 PM
@Asmyldof Possibly because they figured out that's not a good way to motivate most students to do better?

@ThePhoton It worked marvellously on my entire class in Physics and related sciences
Well, 70%, since the other 30% didn't need the stick
In fairness, the same teacher that literally said that also baked pies and cakes for students and/or classes who applied themselves to try and improve, so it was more of a carrot-stick thing that drove all his classes to score way above average
But he was well known for also handling the verbal stick regularly

What is this type of plug? Tried with Ethernet cable and doesn't fit.
Sorry if this question doesn't fit in this chat!

Not any kind of standard that I know of

Oh... :/
Is it better to ask here or in Super User?

Don't know. Depends on what you think it might be for
But on this SITE it's very likely to be closed by vote
Chat... well, you left it here, maybe someone else will know

I think it's for Internet because phone plugs are much more smaller

6:27 PM
@PichiWuana Anything else you can say about it? What are the actual dimensions? How many contacts do you see in the back? What country did you find it in?
@Asmyldof Of course some teachers can do that effectively. Some students will respond effectively. Some grade levels it will work better than others. The stupidity is when the administration can't be bothered to figure out which is which...

6:43 PM
@ThePhoton Thanks, but someone answered me that is this one.
Do you guys have an idea if there is a possibility I could change it for an Ethernet plug?

@PichiWuana You could, but you'd probably also have to replace the wire behind it.

@ThePhoton So it's better to ask the Internet provider?

Or at least might have to replace the wire behind it.
@PichiWuana Depends on where you are. In the US, I own all the wires inside my house, and the service providers only own the wires from a certain box out toward the street.
So if I want to change the wires inside my house I either do it myself or hire an electrician.
Maybe the service provider will send a tech, but they'd bill for it like any other electrician would.

Understood... Thank you very much

JRE
7:37 PM
@PichiWuana Might be something like this:

@JRE No. Found an answer but thanks anyway

@ThePhoton And this, in my opinion, is where the broader society has arrived at

#SoooHappyWithMyCentralisedVacuum
Did Asmyldof ever mention that when Asmyldof sends things, they get properly vacuum packaged? #isntThatCool https://t.co/tG46J6gmVV
@ThePhoton I do try to think like this whenever I can, though:
(( in case people want the full segment: ))
Which I like because he mentions the Dutch

Q: Calculating Transformer Parameters using primary voltage and secondary short circuit current

HarshaI have an application in which I require a current of 3000A to flow through a steel bar, that's it. The only given is a single phase 240V AC supply. So, my obvious thought was to put a transformer in between and short the secondary terminals to get the short circuit current of 3000A. From my kno...

When you people will sleep?
But @Asmyldof :-( I am loosing interest in studying all the topics. I wish they would have given some limited Subjects
So I have decided to go for previous question papers and solve them.
