what is the "star" thing on the sidebar? is that what people in the room think is interesting, so they star it?

Hi!
W5VO
12:44 PM
@KyranF yeah, although some people are guilty of using it as a personal memory
KyranF
1:14 PM
@W5VO i'm disturbed that 2 of the starred things are from me
W5VO
I could cancel the stars if you want
KyranF
dw bro, i'm famous now
seeing stars
bring it on
i got 2K+ now, i'm unstoppable

Anyone here?
I'd like to make sure that it'd be possible to connect
moderndevice.com/product/pressure-sensor-mpxv
to
amazon.com/Arduino-UNO-board-DIP-ATmega328P/dp/B006H06TVG/…
From what I see, analog output comes out of the differential pressure meter, and the Arduino has analog input pins.
W5VO
@Undo yes, but not directly
it's a 0-5V analog signal, and the Arduino is 0-3.3V.
Undo
ah
W5VO
@Undo or at least I think the arduino is 3.3V
(shows how much I use them)
Undo
> Input Voltage (recommended) 7-12V
arduino.cc/en/Main/arduinoBoardUno
What's that mean? That it can only detect between 7 and 12 volts?
W5VO
@Undo well, that's the
power supply
input, not an analog input
actually, you're fine
Undo
3:28 PM
ah
W5VO
I thought the Arduino was using a 3.3V supply, but it uses a 5V supply (which matches your sensor)
Undo
Ah, nice!
Thanks!
@W5VO Could you do me a favor and look over
homeautomation.stackexchange.com/questions/116/…
to see if I'm missing anything huge?
(looks like you don't have an account, the visit link on
area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/55835/home-automation
should let you in)
W5VO
@Undo I think they make
differential
pressure sensors, which may be a better fit, but I don't have time to look right now
Undo
@W5VO I think that's what it is, right? Anyway, thanks for the help!
I really appreciate it
W5VO
@Undo I totally missed the other port. Yup, that's it.

Awesome, thanks!

does anyone understand snowmobile track desgins??
The Photon
@EwokNightmares I think I can count the number of times I've ever seen a snowmobile in person on the fingers of one finger.
EwokNightmares
@ThePhoton are you familar with the design of a track tho?
you have a sprocket that pushes the track along and it rolls with wheels that aren't driven
i am trying to make 1
The Photon
@EwokNightmares No, sorry, don't know anything about it.

@ThePhoton Last time there snow on the ground in San Jose, it was in the 1970s.
The Photon
@NickAlexeev I grew up in the north bay. The one time in my childhood that it snowed was on Halloween day. And I was away in southern California for my uncle's wedding.
I think that was around 1980'ish.
EwokNightmares
@ThePhoton so deprived
