Does the first instance of something look 90% like the modern phenomena? 50% like the modern phenomena? 10%?

In this particular question, I was taking it for granted that the origins would necessarily involve commercial publishing, but the other three answers don't. Which is fine! They are all valid perspectives. But that is why it verges on opinion based if OP doesn't do an exceptionally thorough job of defining the question
