Anybody seen any tech article talk about spoofed packets and linking to Sec.SE?
This question seems to have exploded, views-wise

Q: How are spoofed packets detected?

AdnanMy assumption: When a firewall is configured to drop spoofed packets, it tries to ping (not necessarily ICMP) the source IP and sees if it belongs to a real host or if it's up, and if not, it drops the packet. My question: What happens if the source IP of a spoofed packet belongs to a real and...

11:04 AM
@Adnan when did the views come in, do you know? There haven't been any new answers/comments/spam
oh, and - good afternoon

11:17 AM
@RoryAlsop Oh, I seem to be mistaken. Looks like the views have been building up for a while and not only recently.
and good afternoon to you

@Adnan Dear lord for a moment there I thought that "Salaidin" (misspelled intentionally) is back. Why U linking to old posts? You're the DMZ's wayback machine or something? :P
Maybe Jeff shared it on FB? :D

12:35 PM
where is everyone?
boobies!
right guys now you're scaring me, I'm turning on the news ...

@TildalWave heh

@TildalWave From this chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/16820360#16820360, I assume @RоryMcCune is grounded.

@TerryChia hahahaha

@TerryChia hehe yeah I just added my star to it, that's a cute one
Well google news doesn't offer anything in particular, the world is screw'd as per usual ... In other news, first good one: my back is a bit better now so I can at least type without pain. And the bad one: I can type without pain :)
turns out that "too much coffee" pain I had was actually due to herniated disk between the 5th and 6th Lumbar vertebrae (oh look, an unusual plural form who'd have known?!) ... but it's getting better

Q: So how much anonymity is effective?

derboukaIs anonymity a real or metaphysical concept ? I mean, hackers use all sorts of softwares and methodologies to remain anonymous on internet but they end up by getting caught. So how much anonymity is effective ?

Seriously? 4 upboats in 7 minutes?

There are a bunch of shitty questions getting upvoted these days, it seems.

how in hell do questions like this one get upvotes?

Q: Is JavaScript malware as dangerous as native viruses?

virus_manCan JavaScript malware be as dangerous and damaging as more traditional viruses that are programmed mostly in native APIs?

What is going onnnn
I'm gonna ask "Do you even lift?" and watch the damn rep train hit me.

@Xander yeah I've noticed some rather odd voting today, quite many crap questions upboated like crazy, and some pretty good questions barely getting any votes (either way)
Really? 10 upvotes?? WTF!?

Q: Does clicking lead to DoS attack?

amazighI have a website. Suppose someone will code a program that will click continuously on the links of my webpage: could this lead to a DoS attack ?

1:48 PM
@TildalWave Yeah, it's really bizarre.

And there's this question too:

Q: Could a malicious JS file pointed on URL/URI attack the browser/computer?

begueradjI found some website blacklisted on Google. I mean when you try to visit them, you get something like shown on this picture: After a small search, I found that some of them have a malicious .js file on few of their URLs. My questionh: could a malicious .js file pointed on a URL (www.example.com/p...

What the flying fuck.

Gibson's Summer School of Sequtah must be over and they all came here with moar questions?

2:37 PM
so where's @AviD these days?

Probably having more babies, I swear that's all he ever does.

@TildalWave He's at the Apple Store.

3:06 PM
@TerryChia behind the counter? :)

@TildalWave Nah, buying Apple products like the hipster he is.

EVERYONE HAS A MAC
IT'S NOT HIPSTER
YOU SILLY DONUTS

I don't have any (anymore)

I (sadly) have an original iPad. I use it for one task and one task only, mixing sound on a sound board that only works with iPad for remote mixing
I got it used and I still felt dirty
I felt like I should yolo or something

3:21 PM
Shit I forgot about that useless expensive paperclip. Then I guess I lied - I do have a "Mac".

3:52 PM
@RoryAlsop I thought that was ancient?

DigitalOcean's NYC2 datacenter appears to have dropped offline.

@tylerl Whoops.

"fail guppy"
Also: "That's what you get when you pay $5/mo for your VPS"

@TerryChia @RoryAlsop @TildalWave actually was on a trip to Manchester today sans Laptop, so no DMZing. Now home + tired (4am starts do that...)

Jesus, it's like Amazon knows I'm moving out
Just got an email from them, "Shop apartment and small space essentials"

@DavidFreitag I like it

6:09 PM
@DavidFreitag Amazon do know.... Amazon know ... EVERYTHING!

@tylerl Ha, true.
@RоryMcCune I think between Amazon and Google, they probably know more about me that I know about myself.

@Xander definitely, some of the guesses they can make are impressive

And maybe throw Double Click (or whoever it is that owns them) into that mix.
@RоryMcCune Yup. On the plus side of market tracking, my grocery store knows that I like coffee quite a lot, and now they've started mailing me free samples. It's quite handy.

@Xander Free coffee is always useful!

6:40 PM
That's definitely a win.

7:34 PM
@Xander Google. As it happens.

@FEichinger Ha.

so tonight I am trying out a Glen Deverron that I bought at the airport... kinda hoping I'll like it as they sell 1L bottles there...

8:11 PM
^ nice bit of 70's punk for you

2 hours later…
9:52 PM
@RоryMcCune unless he's fallen in love with the iron lady, and that he really oughtn't have, that's not exactly punk per se :)
