I actually like the TV show more than the books. It feels to me like he's dragging things out in the books

also so much of the story is visual, having to slog through verbose descriptions would just be a downer

so I just dropped a couple hunnerd bucks on a monitor :-(

btw @TerryChia I wound up getting the Dell after all.

I didnt realize but a lot of the cheaper monitors are still non-IPS. Simply shocking.

so while the Dell was not the cheapest, it wasnt much more expensive, even considering it comes speakerless.

I will say that 8ms response time is not great, even for an IPS - and same for 1000:1 contrast. Not terrible, but not amazing.

still, its for the family machine, so good enough.
