@MichaelClark you could, however, invest in an ice cream maker because it is going to let you make ice cream that is either tastier or cheaper over time, thus getting more value for your money because you have it going forward
but it still ties back to something that can be linked comparatively to the cost
@mattdm Thanks. I was just following your suggestion to @jrista (I think it was your suggestion...). It was pretty much because of that cleanup that I had enough answers to get the [lens] tag badge, so... bonus, I guess? =)
@AJHenderson I still think such a use is on the periphery of the definition. The center of meaning, especially as it regards putting money into it, is to anticipate a return measured in the same way as the investment (i.e. money to make money).
