Honestly, there are other existing questions that are a much closer match for the latest question than the one that it got labeled as a duplicate. We have several questions with good answers that ask about whether one should buy their first DSLR with a kit lens OR get a body only and buy a prime instead. The question pointed to as the duplicate was from someone who already had a body and kit lens and wanted to know if they should swap the kit lens for a prime.

@MichaelClark I seem to recall seeing a few questions that have more than one linked dupe. I'm not sure how that happens (I guess/assume mods can add extra dupe links). Wonder if your suggested alt-dupe can get added to the dupe message?

@scottbb More than one dupe happens when different questions are suggested by each of those voting to close the question. When a mod closes it less than an hour after it is asked that opportunity is eliminated for all except the only person that voted to close before the mod closed it.
