Q: wired or wireless remote

icarusI currently use a DLSR Cannon Rebel using a wired remote. I have the cameras attached to a helmet and use it for skydiving photography. I am looking for a newer camera along the lines of the sony NEX-T5. My goal is to reduce the profile of the camera. I have yet to find a camera which will work w...

I love it when new users completely forget to actually ask a question
I sometimes want to respond with "The weather looks nice today. We should take some photos."

@AJHenderson Hello
What's new in photography land?

@MattS. not too much, I've been working through reviewing the last wedding I shot and have been prepping my camera stuff and making final decisions about gearing for the hospital for my first baby's birth

Hmmm yes, hospital lighting isn't the best. Either too harsh, or too soft.
Maybe the doctors would appreciate it if you set up some lighting for them :P

they actually have pretty decent light there
I more am figuring out what I want to setup and where to be out of the way and unmanned
I'll have a remote trigger in my pocket, but won't be able to man the camera most of the time since I'll be busy with helping with the birth

oh yeah, makes sense.

3:51 PM
so it means more advanced planning than normal
so what brings you here? Just hanging out?
anything new with you?

Just hanging out.
Works going back into the normal routine a bit.
I've mostly finished settling into a new house.
Now I'm trying to get a garden set up in the back yard.

nice, my wife and I are looking at houses now actually

They are nice.
We moved from a small apartment to a small house with a yard.
It makes a huge difference.

yeah, we're in a 1000 sqft apartment and it's going to be very tight with the baby
we pretty much have to get a house before the baby is mobile

4:16 PM
Houses are nicer too because you won't have to worry about neighbors being too close.
Someone in our apartment building had a baby, and we could hear it crying even though we were down the hall from them.
Though it was probably aggravated by dogs that would run through barking.
I unfortunately couldn't get the focus right in time. But I no longer have to go places to get pictures of animals.
They hang out in my backyard :)

@MattS. yeah, being able to actually use my home theater system to it's full potential will be nice
7.1 system with 55 inch 3d TV and all I can do is play it quietly
makes me a bit sad

@MattS. i was trying to work out why on earth you had found difficulty in photographing some canvas and a tag - then I looked at the large version :)

6:36 PM
@JamWheel The canvas wouldn't stop running in front of the lizard. :P

Q: How to get this effect (moving people, blurry, high-key)

anderstoodI've discovered the photographer Paterakis and wonder how he managed to obtain the rendering of his series Shadow Life (I prefer not to include any copyrighted image). Obviously he uses a long-time exposure, but I can't guess much more...

6:52 PM
@MattS. lol - damned canvas! notoriously hard work for AF systems too
