BOTH of the fast zombies on the left are still up despite Lath's magic missile!

[Lath droops his head. He slams his quarterstaff against the ground in frustration.]

Z1 at 9HP

4:06 AM
these zombies may stay up
can we get them into the canal?

No, the canal is behind the locked door

...and then they tip your boat over and you're stuck swimming with zombies :P

Mind un-wild-shaping to AoE these things?

R1 attacks tigerJor

Error. No more AoE spells :x

4:07 AM
(2 attacks at +3)
(note Z1 has moved up to share space with R1...)

[Something breaks in Lathaeril. A deep, guttural growl rises from the deepest reaches of his throat.]

(both hit, and at +2 dmg + SA)

<one of uss.. one of uss.. i mean, ggrrrr>

6d6

4:09 AM

Wait. SA only activates once

oh, fail on me
(oh wait, Z1 was prone :/ megafail)
CORRECTION: no SA. 7 damage to tigerJor

He could have gotten up?... 31 hp left then

Jor's turn!
wasn't Z1's turn again to get up

[Lathaeril's bat flees. It senses something coming.]

4:13 AM
Rake! Agains prone? Advantage

The first fast zombie on the left finally goes down under Jor's claws...

Uh oh... the sheeps disappear at the second hit

[The bat feels Lathlaeril beckoning it. It flies to him and perches on his shoulder, expecting something. It seems concerned.]

2nd attack
d20

wah-wah

Gabe lands his first stab but misses with the 2nd try at the zombie, his momentum carrying him out of position for the slash he was trying to do
Lath's turn

[The bat grabs a small flask from Lathlaeril's pack. With an obvious strain, it lifts it and flies towards R2 & R3.]

4:21 AM
oh wait, i had an extra d8 on my attack that hit
d8

Z1 is prone in ball bearings and has 9 HP, R3 is on Gabe with 6HP, R2 is on Jor with 1HP
@Papayaman1000 R2 and R3 are on opposite sides, did you mean R2 and Z1?

[Lathlaeril's eyes have a certain spark in them. The bat drops the flask, allowing the oil in it to spread out into a puddle around the feet of R2 and Z1. Lathlaeril begins screaming Dwarven curses and throws a firebolt at the puddle.]
so uh
5 fire damage to the zombies

The puddle lights up around R2 and Z1's feet (at the end of their turn)

/pass init/

4:24 AM
Jor's turn

"Corrale that zombie into the flames, if you will."
[Lathlaeril's voice is clear, normal. Not the sound of a creaking door it used to have.]

<GGGRRAAYYYBBB!> TIGER ignores the one on him and attacks the one on Gabe by pouncing?
D20

(sure)
(hit)

The R On me gets an OA tho

4:25 AM

4:26 AM
8 damage

(undead fort, DC 13, +3)
d20

It needs to make a dc 14 str st or prone

The zombie gets a huge chunk ripped out of it by Jor's pounce...

If its prone, I can bite it... disdainfully

4:27 AM
[Incessant Dwarven cursing that would make a Thieves' Guildmaster blush]

(DC 14 STR or prone, +1)
d20

...and manages to shed the pounce, staying upright!

Tiger done. Sorry Gabe

R2 and R3 both at 1HP w/ R2 in burning oil ATM, Z1 prone in burning oil at 9HP

4:28 AM
'tis fine, i can take it.

R2 chases after tigerJor...and winds up in the ball of mess involving Jor, R3, and Gabe...

The fast zombie exits the burning oil, chasing down tigerJor and getting a mouthful of tiger flesh, twice, one of the bites going almost to the viscera...

regular Jor is at 29

R3 tries to bite Gabe twice...
(2 attacks at +3, 1 w/ SA from R2 present)

4:33 AM
The zombie on Gabe rips chunks of flesh out of him too...one bite almost reaching an artery...

[a sacrifice to the RNGesus.]

(how's Gabe looking atm?)

bloodied, barely

The remaining slow zombie tries to get up, drenched in burning oil...

32hp left

4:34 AM
(DC 10 dex save at -1)

MAXIMUM DAMAGE

undead fort, DC 19, +3
d20

4:38 AM
Your third try with the dagger strikes true, felling the zombie atop you at last

R2 is on the other side of me?

R2 is tangled up in the furball with you and Jor basically

i I have a 2nd attack

oh, go ahead then

d20

4:38 AM
9

d4

5 piercing to r2

undead fort, DC 10, +3
d20

4:39 AM
d-d-d-double kill

Your stab only lightly gashes the zombie in the leg, but that's enough to take it out of the fight with a moan
Lath's turn

Lathlaeril screams, "STAY DOWN!" in Dwarven. He launches one last firebolt at Z1, with everything he has. He falls prone afterwards, out of exhaustion.
d20

that hits

4:40 AM
10
9

DOWN.

DC 24 is impossible. Nice hit

The remaining zombie is half incinerated by this and its remnants fall into the burning oil to be consumed there (and yes, indeed -- no undead fort for you, Z1!)
(end of fight)

sadly, I think I need to clean up my dagger and take a long rest.

<tiger pants>
<you know what I mean>

4:41 AM
"I'm getting too old for this shit-caked horse arse." Lathlaeril passes out on the ground.

Gabriel wants to keep going, but Nautarch needs a long rest

when do you want to convene again for this?

<Tiger sniffs at Lath to make sure he aint dead>
2d20

17
14

"Fuego," Lathlaeril mutters. The tiger is hit with a light gust of wind.

4:43 AM

and oh, sorry about that being a marathon -- that was actually supposed to be 4 slow zombies and 2 fast zombies, as I misread my notes haha

that was a lot of fun! no worries :)

@Shalvenay [Dwarven cursing intensifies]

g'night all

haha yeah! fighting on all sides was exciting

4:44 AM
@NautArch will you be around this weekend?
@daze413 that was a real blast, yeah -- the most intense fight I've ever run in D&D

@Shalvenay I can do it on your mondays.

@NautArch -- I should be around this Monday (all day even due to a holiday)

the sheeps really slowed down the fight tho

\(>o<)/
(/>o<)/ <==O
(~>_<)~

wizard needs nap badly

Wonder if anyone has a solution to the slog that follows after conjuring

4:46 AM
"Don't." - Skeletor, probably.

@daze413 that they did

Do you mind if I retcon the spell to Call lightning instead? I know we're in a small room but still sounds fun :D
I vow to never use conjures on any media except face to face ever again

@daze413 hrm...I think your deity has heard your (and my) prayers for relief from sheep droppings

Let's just say we change it all during the long rest.

@daze413 they work a fair bit better during map-and-minis
@Papayaman1000 hrm...are you sure you want to longrest in this dungeon?

4:49 AM

That's how I exhausted the DM in play by post. Remember the kildrak druid? that was for an arena game. The DM didnt want to deal with 8 boars running around haha

YOU MESS WITH LATH-O
YOU GET THE WRATH-O

@daze413 hahahaha

8 boars and a Giant Elk

oink!

4:51 AM
dang! I cant pick call lightning:
> The spell fails if you can't see a point in the air where the storm cloud could appear (for example, if you are in a room that can't accommodate the cloud).

I will say that conjured critters are easier to manage in map-and-minis play than ToTM, irrespective of whether you're playing online or face-to-face

k need sleep now goodbye

see ya, then!
@Shalvenay We were playing with maps on the arena game, it still felt slower. Perhaps Conjures are just slow, by design.
I mean, you have to roll init again, and then have to add x more turns to the combat... It's just really wonky

they are
I've seen combat in 3.5e get slowed down some by multi-creature SNA
but yeah -- this may turn into a more complete dungeon run than I thought

@Shalvenay what do you mean? it Wasn't complete?

5:02 AM
@daze413 the barricades were intended to set it up for a quick 2-session "express run"
vs having the party spend 4 sessions wandering the dungeon xD
before they get to the one of the two boss battle options

to avoid spoilerses, wanna hop into your spoil lair?

@daze413 sure

6 hours later…
11:20 AM
@Yuuki -- @BESW, @trogdor and I just played the Revolution Variant of King of Monsters and rolled up the successor to Megathirteen:
> SUPERMEGA HYDRAZOID, KING OF MONSTERS
HEAD: Bitey Teeth (+1 attack)
HEAD: Bitey Teeth (+1 attack)
HEAD: Bitey Teeth (+1 attack)
HEAD: Goring Horns (+1 attack)
HEAD: Voracious Learner (when you cause a defender to lose a Feature, you may replace Voracious Learner with the target's lost Feature)
HEAD: Breath Weapon (attack can target an extra opponent)
HEAD: Breath Weapon (attack can target an extra opponent)
HEAD: Breath Weapon (attack can target an extra opponent)
HEAD: Breath Weapon (attack can target an extra opponent)
Safe to say that game did not last long. :D
Supermega Hydrazoid was played by a friend of ours. :D
