@JohnB I don't know what to think of this Gorillaz single.

Good morning everyone. I have in issue and I wanted to ask if anyone found a way around this. I have a touchscreen laptop and bottom line is I can't make it work with PS. For exmple, if I take the brush and try to draw inside the canvas, nothing happens BUT if a start drawing from outside the canvas and drag inside, it will actually work :))
Does anyone have a clue as to what form of witchcraft this is? :))

That sounds frustrating. What kind of laptop is it?
Also, PS CS6 or PS CC?

It's a lenovo flex and CS6
IT IS frustrating, just when i thought i could start drawing on it :))

Have you done any searches on Lenovo or Adobe forums?

Yup, nothing this strange
Illustrator works as expected though
Just tested it , so " so i have that going for me"
The only thing I found was that PS doesn't offer support for touchscreens but that is a bit confusing since if I start drawing from outside the canvas it does work :))

9:10 AM
Interesting.
I only have experience with Photoshop and a Wacom tablet so I'm not gonna have any personal insight.
But I may be able to do some searches later to see if I can dig up anything.
Right now, though, it's dinnertime. good luck!

Well, don't waste your time on research for me if there's nothing you could benefit from also! I will continue searching and if there's anything new, I will ping you if you are curious. ;)
Thanks for the chat and have a nice day

Good morning everyone
I know from experience AI works with my touch laptop

Maybe there's someone else around here (oh, hello @PieBie ) that knows anything

haven't really tried PS

@PieBie I just confirmed this minutes ago :))
PS is strange

9:14 AM
oh yeah, missed that little line there :)
you could draw in AI and then import to PS via smart object?

Yeah, I know, almost all of the lineart and shapes i do come from AI but there are times when it's more convenient to do it in PS. and it's not only about the brush, the other tools could come in handy when erasing or needing to manipulate masks and stuff
Also, it's frustrating to know you could but you actually can't

9:27 AM
there is a special touch version of PS
i think

Hey there @joojaa, there is? Hmm, I've only heard of a plugin but could't find it.
Will look into this also.

10:23 AM
@Alin I have had course students who use PS with a touch laptop, but they use a particular Workspace to use it. You might benefit from switching workspaces?

@vincent Thanks for the input but I've switched through all the Workspaces but still couldn't use it. I even created a new workspace and no use
Maybe you have to create a special workspace with some special settings or disable some things to make it work...
But I own CS6

Ah, the students I'm talking about use CC indeed

Also, I found a topic here on GDSE about this

Q: Is there a way to make Photoshop CS6 work with touchscreen monitors?

mossI have a 15.6" touchscreen laptop and I would like to be able to use the touchscreen in Photoshop. It works fine in Illustrator but for some reason Adobe didn't make Photoshop compatible with touch screens. Does anyone know a way to make Photoshop CS6 work with touchscreen monitors? It's so fru...

looking into it now

ah good. good luck!
sorry to not be of more help :/

No worries, thanks for trying.
Good day to you

10:36 AM
To you, too :)

2 hours later…
12:58 PM
does anyone know why layers in the layers panel in PS turn red sometimes?

1:22 PM
@PieBie because they are below 10% health?
I think it's a way you can differentiate them--you can press a button to give them a colour marking. of course, since I never use this functionality, I don't remember what key you have to use
Ah, you right-click the layer in the palette and then choose a colour --_--

1:58 PM
@Vincent KO
you can also doubleclick on layer to se ethe option

2:26 PM
@Vincent thanks, but it's not that. The layer turns red automatically, and then we can't edit it anymore... think it's a memory issue...

2:38 PM
@PieBie Are you using CC? Doesn't this happen when you are entering in layer isolation mode?

@joojaa KO? Knock-out?

I don't know. When I enter isolation mode the flip switch turns red, but not the entire layer
I would upload a screenshot, but it's happening to my co-worker.
Never had it myself...

That might be it and it probably has something to do with preferences that instead of turning the switch, it turns the layer :) I've only played in CC a couple of times though and didn't look for such a setting. I am using CS6 so I can't test it.
You can ask your co-worker test it next time

@Ryan cool haha. Been looking at pastels for similar reasons lately... I think there's more instant gratification in using your hands... As durty as that sounds
I'm a very patient illustrator

Oh gorillaz finally released something. I loved the demon days album but was disappointed with plastic beach
Hello @joojaa
