Well i'm not really used to photoshop this is why i wanted "a step by step explanation", in the question marked as duplicate, the answer says "make the new layer black and white", i don't even understand how to do that. — LiohAu7 mins ago
creative thought! maybe I'll just have to talk up how tasty the dinner was. Like, if I was going to ruin a shirt, it had better be with a delicious meal instead of a lame one, you know?
well you know your way around a bezier curve, i'm sure :) and typography is really one of those "how does it feel when you look at it" things to an extent
well one thing I'm seeing as I start to play with it are things like: i like how the 'g' looks but I don't think it fits with the rest of the letters, some of the letters are a little off at the baseline (like, some aren't sitting on it right, a consequence of importing glyphs from illustrator), and I think the commas and periods might be too small
It was originally supposed to be just a display typeface. then I decided to try to take it seriously. So yeah the caps came first and I think they look a lot more unique and interesting
I figured I could give it a hipster vibe...it is Brothers-ish and I've seen that around lately
I am so afraid to say anything because you know so much more about fonts than me :X
if I mention something then I'd expect you to quickly retort with "that's how all modern fonts have been constructed since the bronze age, you clearly don't know what you are talking about"
the flat 't' and 'f' were compromises. I've flirted with angling them...I was trying to check if I had actually done so or not but Illustrator has decided to crash before it loads every time tonight
I'm not sure how much I should resolve some of the quirks. I know some of the angles are a bit inconsistent and I know that some of the glyphs probably...look like they were drawn by someone making their first font. But I'm wondering at what point I can say "bahhhh it's just quirky" and get away with it :P
I'm always happy to share how much of an idiot I am: when you posted your portfolio earlier and I saw the font for the first time and read the story with the picture of it on the awning, I was like "wow! he did a really good job of mimicing the font in that picture!"
(yes I realized later that it was a picture you made)
haha i actually do quite a bit of photoshopping at work...i'm in-house and we typically don't purchase stock photography so I have to wrangle free photos here and there.
every once in awhile I have to prank someone too with Photoshop...those are the days where my wife jokingly says she can't believe I get paid to do what I do :P
