@joojaa nice!

@JohnB morning

hey

@jane morning, how are you?

@EnthusiasticStudent maybe you'd have fun with bootstrap as well :)
Wah! @Ryan Good morning :)
Though it's night here now :) and I'm fine thank you! How are you?

I'm good
Sorry, I always say good morning even though we've got international people. Where are you from?

1:54 PM
It's alright! I'm from philippines, and you?

Florida, USA

@scott have you seen Fury? Was it any good?
I saw Chappie last night, I can understand now why the reviews are hit and miss with it
@jane good morning

@Darth_Vader oh I like chappie :)
It's a cool movie

the movie, to me, was Johnny 5 gets brought up in the hood.

He's alive!

1:58 PM
I really like the ending, the creator was recreated by it's creation... haha

p.s. that was a short meeting

@Darth_Vader I heard crappy acting from some music group, haven't seen it

@Ryan waste of time really
@ZachSaucier that would explain the credits..
@jane you killed it for everyone =P
I didnt really understand why the bad guy king had subtitles.. I thought that was weird

I liked Fury

Kung Fury!

2:05 PM
That was a fun watch
that guy has amazing vfx skills, I love the making of videos

hi

hi hoohaa

I got my electronics for the foot pedal
Hi @Ryan :p
Im making a system where whenever i press a footpedal it captures a frame for me to put in image. Makes capturing easy and i can design the action better.

oh neat

pressing print screen is hard when your mouse button is pressed down while you hold alt

2:19 PM
@jane total-knowledge.com/~ilya/mips/ugt.html Universal Greeting Time (UGT)

It always kind of surprises me how foot pedal inputs aren't more common for PCs

You can get them, but i wanted to build my own

hmm that's an interesting idea. If I get more into this digital painting stuff I might have to look at doing some pedals as well

So far its been 30€ For the electronic prototyping and thats done (its my day off so had to do a project) And tomorrow i will get the spring and reserve the 3d printer for a mockup.

take a picture if you can, I'd love to see the result

2:29 PM
Alright web people with more CSS knowledge than me: Is there a stupid easy way to force the footer to be at the bottom of the browser window?

I can help you with the right search term if you don't already know it

@Ryan are you talking about fixing it to the bottom?

that might be what I want :\
I want what JohnB posted, not what Darth posted. I think

Q: CSS for Fixed Footer

user687554I have a pretty basic HTML page. The code looks like the following: <body> <header style="min-height: 255px;"> </header> <article style="padding-bottom: 60px; width: 900px; margin: 0 auto;"> Body text goes here. </article> <footer style="position: absolute; bottom: 0px; width: 10...

it's easier to demo in this link codepen.io/chriscoyier/full/uwJjr

yeah thats what I'm after
thanks, see if I can figure it out without breaking everything now

if you only care about modern browsers, there might be a more elegant way to do that
flexbox makes it incredibly easy and clean philipwalton.github.io/solved-by-flexbox/demos/sticky-footer
but that won't work on older browsers

@JohnB hmm I struggle most of the time when I try to implement other people's code. One thing always requires other libraries and those require their own things and I end up breaking stuff. But reading to see, thanks

yeah "duct taping" stuff in to existing sites is always a pain
both of these are just pure CSS though, so no libraries at least. But something could still go haywire

2:47 PM
think in theory I see how to easily implement it... in theory. Going to dupe the entire directory though in case

it may be a bit more involved than you're willing to dive in to, but even for small projects I like to use git for version control
it's less hectic than duping a directory, but definitely takes some getting used to

@JohnB do you know which CSS I need?
The long one on Github or the little piece that's on the article?

I would start with the little piece and see where that gets you

nope I failed

@JohnB I use BBEdit with its built in version control. working on a script that will extract my version control and push to my freenas

2:57 PM
Neither small or large code worked. Small code did cause things to break though

hmm
nope getting nowhere
I hate web design. Its such a terrible methodology

3:22 PM
Got it! At least on one page @JohnB

@JohnB It is in the lab but yes sure ill take a picture.

@Ryan awesome!

had to move the Footer to be under the wrapper instead of within it

ah right
@joojaa good luck with the printing

@JohnB whats luck gotta do with it

3:28 PM
is there a chance of failure with it?

Anyone seen "Me and Earl and the Dying Girl"?

i would mill it in the 5 axis milling machine out of aluminium but the milling machine is reserved for the month
@JohnB theni print again. One of the perks at working in a mechanical engineering university si that building stuff is cheap. Printing is free of charge

well, good luck towards not having to print more than once :)
@Ryan nope

Its just a enormous time investement it takes about 20-30 hours to get my parts printed

3:41 PM
@Darth_Vader Fury was okay. It's pretty straight-forward and kind of predictable. It's along the same likes as A Bridge Too Far -- insurmountable forces against a small troop. It wasn't bad, but It's no "dirty Dozen" either.
and yeah.. Chappie was.. mediocre at best -- (Short Circuit + District 9).

@Scott err.. I would have said Johnny 5 was born in District 9

yeah and the "mommy" and "daddy" characters may have been bad asses in South Africa.. but they were just commical to me... like Don Knots trying to play Lucky Luciano.
I was not impressed with Chappie

Never even heard of Love and Mercy but like that it has a real design vibe to the poster

Heard of it.. just never cared abotu the Brian Wilson story

i was just checking movie times. no interest in seeing it either. Trying to figure out a date idea for tonight :\ not one of my strong points
I just assume pour some booze into other containers and wander around somewhere lol

3:50 PM
I finally saw Frozen .... no clue what all the hype was about.

I just started Game of Thrones. In another month or two I might even be caught up

Never seen it :)

watching the trailer for Love & Mercy was confusing...John Cusack and Paul Dano look way too different for me to connect the two

I'm just completely apathetic about "celebrities' in the 60s :)

3 hours later…
7:06 PM
arg.
despite fully understanding what I'm doing wrong, I've hit "Cancel" instead of "OK" on that at least 3 times today
it's okay, I love repeating the same work twice

deep breath brother

.. and that's why I never click an ok button.. I tap the Enter key :)
Interesting that the buttons are in different locations for you. On the Mac OK is on the right and cancel is on the left.

7:21 PM
I guess I'm just used to expecting the Cancel option to be "aah I made a mistake undo whatever it is!"
but that's the opposite here

That may be a UI bug in the app... those buttons SHOULD be swapped in my opinion. I've filed a few bugs for AI about similar odd button ordering.

well, if anything it's nicer for me to insist that it's their fault and not mine for being careless :)

It's always their fault, silly.

how dare they

7:52 PM
I just filed that as a bug @JohnB If you see those buttons change in the future.. it'll be my fault :)
2

aw shucks, well thanks!

hah someone downvoted Scott for explaining dimensions

though by then I'll have gotten used to the old behavior and start cursing you for getting it switched

I needed a good laugh

I suggested [Discard Changes] and [Cancel] as clearer wording

7:54 PM
that would definitely be better

and make [Cancel] stay in editing mode
@Ryan yeah that was a personal shot... had to be :)
Doesn't matter today anyway.. rep cap :)

I'm probably getting close to rep cap myself today
I've only hit it a few times
Your QR question, which I didn't even want open, helped

yup.. seemed to hit the network questions...

8:41 PM
@jane Which version should I download? There are three ones,...

8:54 PM
@EnthusiasticStudent if you are using SASS.. download that one. If you are using LESS then download the source code. If you are using neither, then just download the "bootstrap"

@Scott thanks

No problem :) "Bootstrap" is the basic set up the other two are for more advanced configurations based on other markup libraries.

@Scott thanks... however, I am not a professional in html... I started designing my own website with basic codes of html5 in the last two days... I don't like the result, it is not professional at all. But I like programming and working with html... it is new for me. It makes my free time.

DA.
minor clarification, LESS and SASS aren't markup libraries, but CSS preprocessors.

@EnthusiasticStudent don't be afraid to ask questions

9:03 PM
@ZachSaucier I have many questions... but I think they are really stupid... :)) It's just waste of your time...

if you research it and still can't find an answer I don't mind

@ZachSaucier you are so kind... thanks. :)

@DA. valid point :) [ninja lurker] :)
