@BESW does this chatsey app have a load favorite rooms button?

12:21 AM
The Favorite section has a "join all" button.

12:55 AM
hmm... in 3.5e, can a ranger/druid with an Urban Companion take the Improved Familiar feat to get an Improved Urban Companion?

@Adeptus -- just from initial inspection, I'd say "go for it"

and... if you have an Improved Familiar, do you still use the same progression by caster level as the standard Familiar? (ie, not level -x as with higher level Animal Companions?)

I think it'd definitely be in the spirit of the rules.

There's definitely no penalty for Improved Familiars.
I don't know about the Urban Companion, though.

@Miniman Urban Companions act as Familiars with a few differences. So, if Improved Familiar applies, then it'll act the same as Improved Familiar usually does

1:00 AM
Urban Companion is from Cityscape, right?

Yes.

@Adeptus If I remember when I get home, I'll take a look. Exact wording matters here. (But I don't get home for like 6 hours, so you'll probably have an answer by then.) Might even make a decent main site question, actually.

@Miniman Which part - whether Improved Familiar applies to Urban Companion, or whether it uses the same progression?
(or both?)

@Adeptus Whether Improved Familiar applies. The progression seems like a pretty trivial "it doesn't say there's a penalty, so there isn't one."
I can't tell whether Improved Familiar would work, personally, since it doesn't include the standard "counts as this feature for all prerequisites". My guess is that it doesn't since it's not technically an actual familiar.

Another Improved Familiar question... standard familiar rules say "For the purpose of effects related to number of Hit Dice, use the master’s character level or the familiar’s normal HD total, whichever is higher." Does that mean, for eg Celestial animals, they gain damage resistance when the master is at level 4+?
@Miniman OK, I'll write it up

Q: Does Improved Familiar feat apply to Urban Companions?

AdeptusCityscape Web Enhancement lists an alternate class feature for Druids and Rangers, called Urban Companion: The character gains the companionship of a smaller but far more intelligent creature than she otherwise would have. This is identical to the sorcerer's ability to summon a familiar (PH 5...

@BESW aha, I see now

3:14 AM
@mxyzplk deleted my comment as it might just be adding noise, but thanks for closing that meta Q.

@Adeptus -- you still there?

@doppelgreener Sure, I was considering it anyway and then SSD requested it himself

@doppelgreener After reading your comments I feel vaguely vindicated:
Any examples you could include? — Miniman Apr 10 at 16:56

it turned into toxic BS quick; we allow more discussion than usual on meta but that was way past effectiveness

@Miniman -- sidenote on Improved Familiar + Urban COmpanion -- the feat doesn't need to include the "counts as this feature for all prerequisites" text, as the prerequisites are satisfied without it
err, not hte feat, the ACF :)

3:19 AM
@Shalvenay That's why I didn't answer, because I wasn't sure.

yeah -- I wrote up an answer to his question already -- didn't take long either as the ACF is linked in the question, even though the quote stops one sentence short of answering his own question ;)

@mxyzplk i was considering flagging it for the same myself this morning
@Miniman feel so. but i think this Q, plus examples, would still not have made for a good Q. if we have another question about this, it has to be quite different, in addition to having concrete examples.
so that we can talk about when XY is and is not helpful and compare and contrast and so on.
having examples is a problem when most of this stuff takes place in comments which get deleted, but not having examples is worse. better yet, take screenshots as records.
@mxyzplk agreed on all counts

3:44 AM
@Shalvenay I am now

@Adeptus -- just was pinging you on the Urban Companion+Improved Familiar question

Thanks. I added that next line of the quote to the question. I didn't think it was important in this context, but looks like it is :)
OK, I'm confused about familiars advancement - it says "It retains the ... Hit Dice ... of the normal animal it once was" but then later it says "For the purpose of effects related to number of Hit Dice, use the master’s character level or the familiar’s normal HD total, whichever is higher." Does "effects" in the second quote refer to eg spells being cast at it, or does it also mean abilities of that creature type?

4:03 AM
@Adeptus Both, I think. Pretty much anything related to HD except actual number of HD.

eg improved familiar - celestial animal. Celestials get Damage Reduction at 4HD, but Celestial Animal familiar starts at 3HD

I'm in over my head.

~~\o/~~~~/|~~

@Adeptus Nice, I'll have to remember that one.

4:50 AM
i am not sure whether this world axis question is... bad and i should delete my answer to help it die, or if it's decent
thoughts y'all?
i am also sick, so i would very much appreciate hearing judgement other than my own presently

I need a quick description of Roll For Shoes

quicker than its seven bullet points?

@doppelgreener it looks pretty bad, but I think your answer largely redeems it, rather than just providing it with some life-support.

in my experience: roll for shoes is a game for one-shots where things escalate out of control in fantastic style
and we probably end nowhere near where we started

ofc my advice is probably bad, so... offers grain of salt

4:56 AM
Why would you consider that question bad?

thank you regardless
@JustinT not sure, while i am sick is not when i am best at articulating things in my head

The questions it asks have clear, definitive answers.

you are probably right that it is fine

It is a confused question, as it seems to have some inaccurate assumptions beyond the things it knows it doesn't know.
But we're pretty good at that sort of thing.

It's hard to understand (that might just be that the asker's English appears to be poor, but it's hard to tell), it asks multiple questions which are only tangentially related... I can see why someone might think it needs to be closed (at least until improved).
But, I don't think it needs it, just that it's understandable.
on a completely unrelated topic: anyone here use Origin for vidya games? Not got a question (I'd go to Arqade), just curious.

5:06 AM
@gatherer818 When I can't avoid it.

rofl. Did you snag the recent Humble Origin Bundle 2? If not, I'm honestly not planning to use my code, it's free to a good home.

@gatherer818 No, I didn't. There's some games in there that I'd quite like to own, so if it's up for grabs I'd be grateful.

I bought it, then remembered that I hate that launcher with a burning passion. So I redeemed the ones with Steam codes on the One True Platform (sarcasm, obvs), and I'm just trying to find someone to give the Origin code to.
@Miniman 8Z4U-59LG-T68B-5ZSP-QERY

@gatherer818 Thanks!

@Miniman Very welcome.
I reserve the right to believe you asked for it entirely for Peggle and Bejeweled 3, though.

5:10 AM
@gatherer818 :) I'd do the same myself. Besides, I played a friend's copy of Peggle a few years ago, and it's scary addictive.
@BESW In case you didn't notice:
There are also (I'm not kidding) Cocoadaemons, demons made of chocolate. They are opposed by (again, not kidding) Chocodevas. Guess what they're made of. Both of these creatures were originally found in Polyhedron #23 back in 1984. — Emrys Ternal 29 mins ago

[blink]

@BESW I love this site.

6:08 AM
@gatherer818 I've grabbed all their freebies (current one is Syndicate). Still haven't actually installed the Origin client, let alone any of the games... I also bought Humble Origin Bundle 1, but have only redeemed on Steam. Intending to trade the Origin codes at some point, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

2 hours later…
8:36 AM
@BESW I have located my next avatar. Would you be in a fair position to do me the honour of greenifying it?

It'll have to wait a few hours, but sure!

...of course.

9:07 AM
user with 21k rep answers a question they admit isn't an answer, also stating they thing the question is unanswerable :s
I. just. don't. get. it.

I think "There is no good answer" is a fine answer, assuming it's based on some research or at least good argumentation.

but that's not what the answer is they've given
that admission was in a comment
and I'm not sure I agree. Surely the point of the site is that if there isn't a good answer then you just leave the question without an answer
?

Not necessarily, no. Sometimes "This information is unknowable" is an answer. This is different than "I don't know".
I think this is what Sardathrion was aiming for, that the question isn't answerable in a meaningful way.

9:32 AM
@doppelgreener XD

9:47 AM
A presentation of evidence for unanswerability can make a good answer.
But without the evidence--cited, experienced-based, whatever--it's not.

@BESW absolutely

Q: Do any studies exist that show what the most popular RPG setting genres are?

NerrolkenHave there been any studies or polls about the most popular RPG setting genres, across systems? Intuition tells me that High Fantasy would top the list, but there are a bunch of strong contenders for the Top 5/10. Steampunk, SciFi, Horror, Gothic Fantasy, Noir, Historical, SciFi/Fantasy mix (e....

and my comments on the only answer

So... I just lost my laptop

@BESW of course!
now i will get to say
this is not good enough
it must be bigger, yes
@Wibbs it doesn't seem to be a good answer but also a frame challenge on that question with a well backed up "No" would be appropriate
@Mourdos ouch :(

10:52 AM
@BESW actually that one seems like it might be hard to greenify

Q: Whether to answer or not if one believes there is no answer possible

SardathrionSo, there is this (good) question about asking for a particular authoritative source. However, I believe there can be no answer either because of some fundamental problem with the framework or because any answer would be so subjective it would mean nothing. Should I leave a comment? Well, no si...

3.5 people: Anyone know where to find the rules for resisting areas with strong evil auras/taints? A buddy of mine got hit with a situation and he needs some help regarding it.

11:37 AM
@doppelgreener Best avatar

11:54 AM
@Wibbs the desire to help can sometimes override the format

Nevermind, looks like I found it.

Good morning

@Aaron Morning in which time zone? drinks his afternoon tea

@Shuro Central Standard. It is 7:06 here

12:09 PM
it's morning in the US

Sure thing

Good [standard greeting for your particular timezone]!

laugh Thank you

Lol I notice we go through this every few weeks.

Good morning to all for whom it is currently morning. Everyone else (myself included) can deal with it :P ( or you know, take it in the spirit in which it is intended )

12:13 PM
Perhaps there should be a standard chat greeting. Something akin to... I dunno... "Hello"?
=P

Yo? Hey? Sup Dawg? Hi!

I do prefer the localised version, in particular since someone complained that they lose track of the time and tend to think everyone is in the same time zone as them.
In that spirit,
Good Afternoon!

Good Afternoon as well

@Mourdos I do think those would suffice, yes. @Anaphory Hadn't considered that. Good morning to you, then. =3

It may have instead been that they thought that they are in the same time zone as everyone else, in which case this is good training.

12:16 PM
Guten Tag. nod
Bonjour, Hola, 您好 .... just for multicultural greetings.

@Mourdos Did that three weeks ago, and it hurts.

@Shuro Håfa adai.
@sillyputty I submit [wave].
Alternately, yawp and/or yopp.

Moin!
(While it sounds related to “morning” to people, it is actually derived from a word meaning “good”…)

We should standardize the way to standardize things. ( xkcd.com/927 )

@Anaphory Yes. The really stupid bit on my part was that I had not backed it up.
So I have about two weeks worth of work to do again. Fully my own fault, but already not going to hit the deadline

12:25 PM
@Mourdos eeek.

@Mourdos Luckily most of my stuff also exists somewhere else, so it is mostly a material hit and the problem of recreating my beloved ideosyncratic configuration.
I lost only a small amount of data, actually probably mostly role-playing related, because that's stuff I don't keep on my university machines.

Yes. I am super stupid. As a programmer I should know better, and I do know better, I just didn't do better.
I've come from working on small 1-2 day tasks and committing when I've tested, to suddenly working on bigger projects. Unfortunatly, my habbit is still to commit once its done and tested locally. This is of course, a terrible and stupid idea.

@Shuro We have. In at least three ways, cf. ISO and IEC and IEEE
@Mourdos Ouch. How does that add up to two weeks?

@Anaphory Party pooper grml

Because that is now the amount of time I estimate to get back to where I was.
Because did I mention, I was really dumb.

12:32 PM
save early save often

I've been leaning this codebase for about 2 months, and coding during it. New framework, terrible code. About two weeks to reproduce what took me 8 to understand and code, I think

@Shuro This just means we need to standardize the way to standardize the way to standardize things, before it's to late!

Yep.

@Mourdos Aw.

can someone more awake than me edit that new falling into water damage question to have sensible tags? I'm pretty sure it should be tagged Pathfinder and not System Agnostic, but there may be other changes such as removing gm-techniques

12:33 PM
Really stupid thing on top of all the other stupid things is that I was going to commit to svn today. Would have last wednesday except that the client asked me not to deploy to our test server because they were demoing the area I had done a lot of work in for their bosses. (and we have stupid ass contractors who deploy constantly and would have ended up deploying my stuff with theirs had I committed it. Should have committed to a branch. )

But that could be a good example that RAID is no backup....if the laptop had raid, which is doubtable

Laptop was stolen, after I left it on a train
realised within about 10 minutes, but the train had left. I waited for it to get back to the station (about an hour and a half to go to the end of the line and back)
but by then it had gone
in laptop bag, on overhead racks

[wave]!
@Mourdos My, that is a LOT of stuff I don't understand but sounds like a headache. You have my utmost sympathy.

Also:
Happy first day of Riḍván!

12:53 PM
Today is the last day to vote for new Moderators in the election, remember to vote if you haven't yet. I'll be in the election chat room to answer any questions anyone has for me.

Hasbro CEO: "In fact, a raft of games including Dungeons & Dragons, which is really on a tear, Risk, Scrabble, Trouble, Life, Candy Land, CLUE and OUIJA were all up in the quarter. And we're seeing great sell-through of our games."
That's good, though I'd really like to see them start seeing D&D as a different kind of product than the others it's mentioned alongside there

Yes, well, they're lumping Scrabble and OUIJA together too.

I wonder how candy land moves more product
oh they have licensed versions (disney princess, minnie mouse, etc.)

1:11 PM
@JoshuaAslanSmith it's also $5 at walmart. so selling in the zillions of copies...

I guess it depends how much planned physical obsolescence it has (cheap materials) but I know growing up the copy of candyland I played with my sister was a hand-me down.
unlike risk or monopoly where I understand rules variants (like my beloved Risk legacy) the target audience and the core rules seem like they would be frozen

1:30 PM
@JoshuaAslanSmith Oh, Risk: Legacy. You will forever be etched into my mind as the game where I was able to compete without resorting to Australia...until that rat-b@stard threw down an ammo shortage on North Africa.

My favorite thing about legacy is both how after a few games the landscape has already changed to throw wrenches into your preferred strategies and how completely crazy it is by the end
theres also the strong sense of narrative you get from it especially if you end up playing with the same small group.

Alien Island connected Madagascar to Western Australia in ours. The world was never the same.
And double yea for the narrative thing. Then again, my friends and I turn every game into a narrative thing so...

I only know one person who has Risk. Never had a chance to game with him, though.

@besw vanilla risk is pretty boring and is the definition of an ameri-trash board game. Dudes on a map an lots and lots of d6s rolled forever. there are a few valid strategies in terms of the map layout and mechanics though beyond that its a good format for social engineering with treaties and backstabs being completely between players and the established social contract. Risk Legacy takes this and turns it on its head by having the game change over the course of 15 games.
Stickers get slapped on the board, people sign when they win, factions change as they games progress and additions to the rules get stickered in too.

the above is 100% factually accurate, and anybody who has a differing opinion is objectively wrong and possibly evil?

1:38 PM
Yeah, well, this guy is someone who swears D&D peaked before 2e. I think he considers Grognarding an extreme sport.

Grognarding?

@sillyputty french term for veterans of napolean's first campaigns
basically "the complainers/grumblers" because they had fought with him for so long they were allowed to say things that were impolitic at the time

TIL

A "back in my day things were better" grumbler. Used in RPG communities to indicate someone attached to older "traditional" gaming forms.

Huh. Neat!

1:40 PM
its primary use is for D&D gamers from 2nd or 3rd or 1st or whatever D&D version before who just compain about how X was and will always be better than Y

@JoshuaAslanSmith hey! we get to throw 4th in there now :)
in my day!!!

Well, I mean, X has that fancy 4th leg, so I can see why people say it's better than Y, which only has the 3.

Ooer, I get to be the grumpy old guy on the porch yelling at the dang kids?

@waxeagle right its interesting because I associate the term with favoring a particular style of play which 4e wasn an anathema to but yes now I am technically a grognard
The Old Guard (French Vieille Garde) were the elite veteran elements of the Emperor Napoleon's Imperial Guard. As such it was the most prestigious formation in Napoleon's Grande Armée. French soldiers often referred to Napoleon's Imperial Guard as "the Immortals." The Old Guard was formed of veteran soldiers who had served Napoleon since his earliest campaigns. It is believed that Napoleon hand-selected members of his Old Guard based on physical traits, most notably above-average height. Their imposing stature was likely impressive to foes and allies alike. Serving in the army for several years...
@sillyputty the historical context^

Back in my day we didn't have your fancy "inspiration"! We got our combat advantages the way God intended- with shifting!

1:43 PM
@waxeagle those prepainted minis the RSS feed just shared from enworld look dope

@JoshuaAslanSmith Thanks! I'm a little embarrassed I didn't know this. That damn History degree all those years ago is doing me no service now. None I tell yoU!

@sillyputty completely depends on what you focused on

@JoshuaAslanSmith growl, enworld images appear blocked here :(

@waxeagle ONE SECOND

@JoshuaAslanSmith Yeah, in some RPG communities gronard has come to mean adherents to a particular playstyle that emphasised traits like narrative invention to bypass mechanical inconvenience and devotion to random tables.

@JoshuaAslanSmith heh no help there i.stack.imgur also blocked, will pull on phone :)

@waxeagle lol

ah yeah, those aren't prepaints :(. Those are GF9 resins

"Air myrmidon" sounds like Mr. Magoo mumbling something unintelligible but undoubtedly intolerant.

@sillyputty my strongest areas are actually ancient to medieval western civilizations and then from medieval to modern for the anglosphere mostly
ahh
@waxeagle will that air myrmidon looks like a cool model nonetheless

1:47 PM
still very nice looking minis.
and GF9 isn't outlandish for being limited quantity resin runs.

(And "Undoubtedly Intolerant" is a good name for an awkwardly self-ironic 1920s-style Blues band.)

My knowledge of wider, world events during those periods is limited to how trade or good fromt hose areas impacted western society

@JoshuaAslanSmith Oooo interesting! I have a baseline in Western Europe from 1350 to present, but sorta roamed all over the place in my studies. Enjoyed Middle Eastern history, though.

"Les Grognards" is the funniest thing I'm likely to see today.

@BESW My god. I'm quitting my job and starting that band now.
First song we record? Air myrmidon

1:50 PM
@sillyputty yeah theres a lot there, a large part of my self-taught history has to do with understand the philosophical foundations of American Democracy and civics, but in general I am a fan of western civilization as semi-grouped entity throughout history from the greeks onward

@JoshuaAslanSmith Big fan of common sense then? Oooh, self, what a delightful pun.

Having delighted someone with my irrelephant asides, I shall retire. G'night.

@BESW good night

Good night!

@BESW sleep well

2:02 PM
@Shuro yes
@BESW Goodnight!
I have just watched Kung Fu Hustle with some friends.

Such a good movie.

(if anyone cares, I just linked the page to download OpenSTV in the election chat room)

(what's OpenSTV?)

@DuckTapeAl probly better in election chat, I'll splain there

2:19 PM
@mourdos In the future, considering doing your work out of a cloud-synced folder (e.g. Dropbox). Or better yet... use git. Use git yourself even if the project doesn't.

2:33 PM
@waxeagle Anything I don't have to paint myself is awesome in my book :)

@Miniman heh, I like painting, but I don't have enough time to actually do it regularly

3:03 PM
@JustinT Those suggestions are good, but don't work (a) if something forces you to keep the data secret or (b) you don't have permanent internet connection or (c) regular pushing (!) in Git is something you tend to forget or (d) some other reasons.

3:22 PM
Afternoon

@Pureferret Hullo!

Indeed, good sir!

We should all adopt the Thai six hour time demarcation

Yo!

Thailand also adopted ISO 8601 under national standard: TIS 1111:2535 in 1992. However, in practice, there are some variations. == Date == Thailand mainly uses the Buddhist Era which is 543 years ahead of the Gregorian year. The year AD 2006 is indicated as 2549 BE in Thailand. Despite adopting ISO 8601, Thai official date is still written in DDMMYYYY format, such as 1 January 2549 BE (AD 2006) or 23/04/2555. == Time == In Thailand, official time is indicated in 24-hour clock system; however, a six-hour clock system is also used, especially in spoken language. It counts 4 times from 1 to 6, with...

3:29 PM
At least it's mapped to distinct, numerical times, not vague notions of where the sun is. When do YOU all consider it to be evening, instead of afternoon? 17:00? After dinner? When the sun is setting?

@sillyputty yeah, 1700 or so

I've known people to consider as early as 15:30 to be evening, especially in the "shorter days" time of year (whenever that is appropriate for your geographic location).

@JoshuaAslanSmith event created! (without prompting even!)

@BESW actually I'm now contemplating picking up that avatar in full colour with a name of doppelmari or something

@doppelgreener For what it's worth, your current avatar is fantastic. I assume it's Space Ghost with a moustache?

3:51 PM
@waxeagle nice

I think for me Evening is generally when I head home from work, which is around 6
and goes until 11
I used to have a split between morning and forenoon, but the latter does not really exist in English.

3 hours later…
7:06 PM
@JoshuaAslanSmith I can't wait to see the vote graphs
that's my favourite bit

I think I've changed my voting like, 5 times.

@sillyputty There's only one more combination of three items possible
That being said they are close

Ooo I should go for completionist!

@sillyputty @Pureferret Im not picturing that as a badge, a terrible terrible badge

Wait. Now, I'm dumb at math, but 3 choices ordered, I have 6 possibilities. If I've changed my vote 5 times, I've already done all the options, right? Not that in this hypothetical it matters in the slightest, but now I'm just curious.

user61230
7:11 PM
Assuming you selected a unique order each time, yes.

Well in that case, I want my badge. =P

@sillyputty assert count(123,132,213,231,321,312) ==6

H-hooray!?

side note: talk to your DM is the answer ATM yea? it's not specified in the rules as far as i can see

To the rice cooker!

7:47 PM
Was...was that code? Is @Pureferret now waiting somewhere with a briefcase that I haven't shown up to receive?

@sillyputty Nah, I have rice now

7:59 PM
achievement unlocked: move into own office

Well that's disappointing. I mean, great for you, rice is grand. But there was the possibility of ADVENTURE
@waxeagle congratulations!

@sillyputty thanks!

@SevenSidedDie also congratulations to you, whenever you show up. =3

@waxeagle @SevenSidedDie congratulations!

Congratulations all round!

Definitely.

in RPG 2015 Moderator Election Chat, Apr 13 at 4:27, by Emrakul
I'm going to feel bad for whoever loses this election, because honestly, any of the three candidates would make a great moderator, and I don't think a loss would truly reflect on them.

user61230
All three candidates would have been good moderators, and I stand by that.

Q: 2015 Community Moderator Election Results

Jon EricsonRole-playing Games's second moderator election has come to a close, the votes have been tallied, and the 2 new moderators are: They'll be joining the existing crew shortly — please thank them for volunteering, and share your assistance and advice with them as they learn the ropes! For detail...

I didn't realise how one sided the initial round would be

I don't know. It seemed like it was seven sided to me.

user61230
8:26 PM
@Seven You're all blue!

Thank you! @Emrakul @sillyputty @GamerJosh
@Emrakul That's trippy. And kind of weirding-out-ing.
@waxeagle Congratulations! Are you as overwhelmed by the sudden new stuff all over as I am?

Not only are you blue now, you HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BLUE.
Through the magical power of Retconjuration.

@DuckTapeAl At least the shade matches my avatar. That's a nice detail.

user61230
@Seven Yeah, it made me really uncomfortable when my name color changed for some odd reason.

@Emrakul Did you just become a Puzzling mod?

user61230
8:32 PM
Almost a year now, actually.

user61230
....holy gods below it's been a year

@Pureferret I'm as stunned as you are. My reluctant self-image is the grumpy curmudgeon who tries not to grumble too much, and mostly only gets enthusiastic in fun answers... I may have to re-evaluate that self-image.

@SevenSidedDie Or keep it up? People seem to be on board with it

@Pureferret this

@SevenSidedDie Thanks! and congrats to you too! Don't let the mod UI stuff fool you, it's just a really fancy garbage disposal.

8:36 PM
@Pureferret Keep up, but adjust my own evaluation to "actually not so grumpy." And then let that self-image motivate further cheerfulness. :)
@waxeagle That's right, you've been mod elsewhere already. I was prepared for the concept well enough. Now I just have to figure out "How do I UI?" all over again. :)

The mod interface definitely has some odd gotchas. They're not too terrible, though.

@SevenSidedDie So you used to be Grump, and now you're Not So Grump?

@DuckTapeAl Something like that.
Unrelated: WOO! SAVAGE WORLDS RIFTS! I totally called it. Privately, in my head, so I have no evidence. But I totally called it.

just make sure you say a prayer if you decide to mess with tags....

user61230
5e has caused some fuss. Let's just delete the tag.

8:40 PM
@SevenSidedDie where? :o

@waxeagle I heard something about, was it Serverfault? Where a whole lot of tags were wrongly synonymed. Yeah, that's something to put a "hot, don't touch without gloves" label on.

@SevenSidedDie yep.

@Wibbs Kevin Siembieda made an announcement about it coming to a "new system" on Sunday, and RPGnet has been speculating since.

@SevenSidedDie it amuses me that the news hasn't been announced by Pinnacle yet

My best guess was Savage Worlds, because it's a license-fest over there, and it's crunch enough out of the "light" systems to do the setting decently. My second guess was the guy who did Breachworld, but then he said "nope, not me, thanks for the vote of confidence though!"
@Wibbs Their press releases is quoted farther down that link.

8:44 PM
@SevenSidedDie I mean its not on their website yet :)

@DuckTapeAl His heart has grown three sizes this day

ah, I've just seen a post on their facebook from 45 minutes ago

@Wibbs Oh, that's weird. I wonder where ENworld got it.

indeed :)
and, there's the post from the lead designer on their forum
@SevenSidedDie p.s. it's really weird seeing your name with a diamond by it

@Wibbs Tell me about it. I think I'm going to go eat some lunch and let the weirdness shake out some.

8:53 PM
heh

And congratulations to new mods.

It somehow did not look this empty when I waved.

user61230
Your wave came half an hour after the most recent message, so chat may be misleading you?

user61230
9:52 PM
metal hands sounds painful

Ah, that's what that is.
I was wondering whether that was a person, seen from top, or something.

user61230
A person with really greasy hair?

Yea, I got it when you said it was supposed to be metal hands.

Atomic Robo RPG was nominated for an Origins Award, so we added the RPG + dice + a 10% off coupon code to the store! http://www.atomic-robo.com/

I had just parsed them in the context of \o/, where \/ are arms.

OH

@Anaphory That was for @Emrakul's benefit

I think the way my lifeboatthingie is displayed in the starred posts list points to an escaping bug.
Looks like "\_" does get into the list as "".
Weird. This time typing "\_" got turned into "_", but that did not happen up there.
Isn't there a chat sandbox somewhere? Or should I open a new room for testing what was going on there?

10:10 PM
It's room 1!

@BESW is there an issue with the Onyx Path blog feed? I may have misinterpreted what people mean by 'Promotional'
It's all about Onyx Path games, as in they promote their games though it
but they also give sneak previews of things they're developing, and snippets from books that are adapted to other of their systems

There's lots of ways it can be "about" their games, and when I glanced through the feed it looked like it was mostly "Here's a thing you can buy!"
Which is a hard sell for the chat feed.
If you edit the recommendation to tell us why you think we'd like to have it in the feed, that might help.

Examples:

http://theonyxpath.com/beasthungers/
http://theonyxpath.com/pregnancy-in-the-world-of-darkness/
@BESW I thikn before they moved to wordpress they had tags you could filter on

10:25 PM
I haven't voted on it one way or the other--I'm uninterested in those games, but at a post rate of 1/day it wouldn't clutter the feed with things I'm uninterested in, so if others like it I wouldn't be miffed.

@BESW Probably sub 1/day
but that could be my feed reader being janky

@Pureferret Those examples would probably go a long way to making it more attractive to vote on.

@BESW Editing them in...

(It may be, however, that the chat just isn't interested in those games and topics. No amount of eloquence is likely to change that.)

@BESW ALL OF THE ELOQUENCE!
Perhaps shouting isn't that eloquent though....

A: RPG General Chat: vote for your feeds!

PureferretThe Onyx Path regularly make excellent blog posts about nwod and owod games as well add other games they own, such as exalted and pugmire. They have the first look at new developments into all of these games, as well as taking part in open development there so you can impact what goes into gam...

Fixed it up

Awesome.

10:56 PM
Also looks like some of their games don't even have questions on this site :o

Good night folks!

@BESW Yeah I think people don't like OnyxPath games :(

That does seem to be the case.

@BESW NO TEARS!
