11:00 PM
yes

Because (-2) squared is 4

that's my point
all integers should be taken at face value

But the expression -2^2 is correctly -4 by mathematical convention ;)

because, shorthand, @BenN

11:00 PM
( I am not sure the reason I am taking part in this discussion, the amount of math I have taken, would make a math major cry )

lol

@Ramhound are you in hs?

Answer 0.125

@varfirstName His profile says he has several degrees

11:01 PM
actually it did make me cry

Using Simulink to solve Diff Eqs was fun though
@varfirstName - Are you?

@Ramhound yes, but 90% of my free time is spent doing mathematics
and I keep in touch with my math teachers

After you receive a B.S. in Computer Science and Computer Engineering, and a M.S. Business Administration come talk to me.

and many have yet to concede to me that dividing by zero results in an indefinitely vast array of values
and i've logically proven it, too

11:06 PM
logically proven it, using a mathematical theorem to QED?

no
just plain logic

....
So you have not proven it then

take any number x

"Plain logic" in math has a tendency of falling apart when scrutinized :)

and divide it into itself

11:06 PM
I think you mean infinitely not indefinitely

no
x/x = 1

err

Unless x is zero
In which case you have problems

broken brain

ignoring the rule of the domain, you see that nothing fits into nothing

11:08 PM
you can't ignore a rule..

it's only a rule because people are too feeble to handle the power of it.
Think about it.

for a rule to be true, all rules used to prove said rule, must be true.

Q: Division by $0$

danielsynI thought it was elementary to me, but I started to do some exercises and came up some definitions I have sort of difficulty to distinguish. In parentheses are my questions. $\dfrac {x}{0}$ is Impossible ( If it's impossible it can't have neither infinite solutions or even one. Nevertheless, ...

So all this time with math, I hope your getting an A, because you would fail most advance math classes by saying "let me just ignored this rule"

I don't do homework so I land in the high Bs
homework is a waste of time

11:10 PM
Practice is pretty important :)

...

keeps you stuck on one concept for more time than most can think on a concept without getting distracted

Where is Cpt Picard head slap guys?

Looking for !!headdesk?
I can't keep all the commands straight

!headdesk
!!headdesk
bah!@

11:11 PM

it stops you from progressing further into the concept when you already understand the current material

anyways
....
Good luck remembering Calculus 1 theorems with that attitude.

you don't understand how limited of an enrichment high school homework gives you
Staying on one basic topic for more than a week is just a travesty.
like, fucking trig took my class 3 weeks
I was playing with circles, learning new concepts after the 2nd day
remember

There's an entire book on trig a few feet away from me

this is like, geometry trig
real simple shit
not even Algebra II

11:15 PM
....
so its geometry, lol

yea, that was last year.
My class was full of freshman because I slept through a placement exam in my 6th grade year

....

Not very fair considering my sister was as loud as a hyena
but hell
life aint fair

Hi my name is NotBob and I tried to parse HTML with regex.

how did the quotient of 0division thing become a postulate?

11:19 PM
Interestingly enough, I have an idea for a fix for !!stat that involves parsing HTML with regex

How's that?
!!stat

@varfirstName User 229753 not found

It seemed so harmless in the beginning. Just wrapping <img> tags in anchors and adding a class to it.
Little did I know what I was getting myself into. Madness. MADNESS, I TELL YA!

Guess what I'm going to say next

You can use PowerShell!

YEYYYYYYYYYYY
As soon as I begin to question the stars, yall decide to remove them
We need to updog all of @JourneymanGeek's shit

@ThatBrazilianHeadlessHorse needs more zalgo.

@BenN Yo dawg I heard you like PowerShell so I put PowerShell in your PowerShell so you can PowerShell while you PowerShell

shit dawg
I already got dat
hey guys
Blazin it on windows 10..
can we get a Taylor Swift tag?
!!!tayderp

@varfirstName That didn't make much sense. Maybe you meant: tayderp

11:29 PM
feck
!!tayderp

@varfirstName There you go.

tag this chat NAOOOOO
Honestly thinking about doing an april fools day joke where I answer every question possible with "Stir the tuna" and a gif of jackie chan

That sounds like a way to get auto-answer-banned

little bit
what if it's a different gif every time?

11:33 PM
Oh, I was thinking of the VLQ flags

ah
@BenN Could you critique my answer to this post?

A: Multiple routers on the same network over coax

var firstNameBefore you begin reading my answer, please note that my understanding is that you wish to use these routers as independent modems broadcasting on the same SSID with the same WEP/WPA(2) key, and same settings. Personally, I would take it for a test run and see how it performs (seeing that you alr...

I'm afraid I haven't done much with coax stuff :/

I'm saying, general post quality
this is my first in-depth post of SE. Ever.

11:36 PM
It seems good. In the nitpick department, we don't use "Tl;dr" very much - "summary" is more professional

ah
I thought it was more casual and welcoming
will refrain from it in the future

What you have isn't bad at all, but posts are the best when they're professionally written

@BenN Allow me to disagree

A: RegEx match open tags except XHTML self-contained tags

bobinceYou can't parse [X]HTML with regex. Because HTML can't be parsed by regex. Regex is not a tool that can be used to correctly parse HTML. As I have answered in HTML-and-regex questions here so many times before, the use of regex will not allow you to consume HTML. Regular expressions are a tool th...

I'm in the middle and suggest it depends on the question

@ThatBrazilianHeadlessHorse With my idea of regex parsing, or the acceptance of "tl;dr"? I'm not super enthusiastic about having casual terms in answers, but it's not terribad

11:45 PM
> posts are the best when they're professionally written
Good posts are concise, thorough, technically correct, clearly explained, that I agree.

Ah, that makes sense

They don't have to be serious and bureaucratic, however.
But yeah, it depends a lot on the question

Yep, I agree with you

Yup

A: Why BitTorrent uploads simultaneously?

Journeyman GeekWell, why not? Torrents have no central server - the data is not produced by magic bunny rabbits or the toothfairy - bitorrent is a peer to peer networking system - basically your computer goes "say old chap, would you happen to have chunk 1234? " and another computer goes "sure, old chap, I have...

I posted this one when I was sick and loopy on flu meds. And have no recollection of actually posting that answer

Anyway, I'm off to watch Steven Universe. And eat dinner. And write blog posts. And sleep somewhere between it all.

11:50 PM
I am off to cry
Amazon oversold my pre-order lol

I wouldn't pre-order NMS if you paid me a million dollars
No, WOW: Legion CE
I am taking off thurs and fri too
not because of the game
because its just been crazy at work

How does one oversell a digital copy of a game? No, scratch that: how does one makes a pre-sale of a digital game? Isn't the sole purpose of a preorder to secure a copy of a limited amount of a product?

Lock in the price?
I've never actually preordered a game so I don't know with certainty

11:56 PM
I tend to wait for games to get released, and more often wait for the GOTY + steam sales

I typically only pre-order games a few day sbefore
and only because I get 20% off pre-release games on amazon
In this game the game was a physical copy of the CE
Amazon didn't receive enough copies
Why they didn't doesn't matter, in the end, they sold to many
They also didn't notify me
I had to ask....
I still hold out hope because "Arriving tomorrow by 8pm" has not been updated
I hope this CR didn't know the tools or something
