@Hennes Hello. What glue bonds polyethylene?

ugh. That is that white stuff with the horrible noise?
None?
use hot-welding or mechanical fasteners?

@Hennes Actually it's language keyboard stickable and transparent character tags. I have English keyboard by default but I need multilingual capability as well.
1 tag came off and won't stick back.

Glue on plastic does not often work well. The solvents could be a problem (either as in not working well as with polyethylene) or by dissolving the keys.
Not sure how you would properly solve that without risking a keyboard and a few spare tags
What is wrong with this post that it seems to attract vultures posting links to commercial solutions?

Q: Recover from failed recovery of software RAID5 failure

DanielI have the pleasure ;-) to have been handed the task to try to get data off a server that had a RAID5 array problem and a failed attempt to recover it. Background: the computer in question is some server from IBM with a 6-port SATA2 backplane. Four identical harddrives with 1 TB each are attache...

Q: Golden strip of RAM broke

Tanay TambeI have a 4 GB transcend DDR3 RAM which was working fine until now. The golden strips at the bottom of RAM got removed while installing it on motherboard. Is there any solution for this or do I have to throw it away?

I wonder how that even happens

Bob
12:29 PM
@JourneymanGeek The same way this happens.

@Bob: he's mucked up a SINGLE trace

Ethical dilemmas.

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Hm?

One of my questions is facing close votes for overbroadness. I don't think its overbroad, and its a useful troubleshooting guide for a clear, plausible issue ;p
I can, of course just invalidate the VTC in the review queue (which I've been trying to trim down) ;p
...
IT WAS AN AUDIT ><
(0 upvotes, but I know someone upvoted it.)
ethical dilemma solved ;p

Bob
@JourneymanGeek ... ... ... welp.
should change audits do you can't get any question you've interacted with directly (edit, answer, asked, maybe commented/voted)

Windows probably won't boot from external drive at all, it's possible with Linux though. This discussion is went off-topic, but it could be a good question, consider asking it. — gronostaj 3 hours ago

lol
Its incorrect that windows won't from an external drive. Esata is external too, and should work. There was also an old hack that let you usb boot XP, and various PE environment setups that worked reasonably well.

I should really update my computer, GNU Octave has been compiling for the past 20 mins ._.

Bob
20 mins is nothing for compilation -_-
well, depends how complex Octave is

The source is ~70 mb
So I kinda expected a 5-10 mins compile time
It finally stopped compiling at the folder is 3 gigs now o_0
Can I delete that folder after doing a make install ?
Or are the contents simply symlinked

3:55 PM
you can delete it
I'd suggest checkinstall over make install
(it creates a package, so its easier to uninstall if need be)

4:18 PM
okay

Q: Can I use a ethernet splitter to connect a router to two devices?

NeDarkI have a portable mini wireless router with different functions (AP/Client/Router). Can I use a ethernet splitter to give internet access to two devices? The router only has a ethernet port and connects to a wireless network (Cliente mode). I know that a switch would be the best option but I do...

@Bob sure! :D

Bob
@allquixotic Sure, it'll connect (physically). Getting them to communicate, on the other hand... :P

VTC'ed as duplicate after writing an answer.
I guess I should have know it was asked before

@Bob Hey! I'm looking over the import/export PR, it's really nice
There're some stuff I'd do differently, do you mind if I just go ahead and mangle it up, or would you like a "CR" of sorts so you can do it?

Bob
@Zirak Oh, go ahead and mangle it :P

puts on the bear claws

Bob
@Zirak I'm curious to know what you'd change, though. Not very JS-experienced here (even if that's technically my day job -_____-)
@Zirak Noooo! Not the claws!

@Bob Well for one your use of a synchronous XHR made me sad
But I intend to move all the memory-handling logic (the actual export/import) into bot.memory, which should be moved to its own file already, and have the commands just call that

Bob
@Zirak ...yea, I couldn't be bothered figuring out delayed bot responses at the time. Probably should've peeked at one of the other commands.
The other thing is the requirement for a manual bot restart to get it to load the updated memory. Haven't looked at that either.

7:28 PM
The latter can be fixed by overriding properties inside bot.memory.data instead of the whole thing

Bob
@Zirak But would that, for example, clear old commands from the dictionary?
AFAICT, that's a "no".

Correct, it won't do that. But we have the technology.

Bob

@Bob How would you feel if I told you I don't have time to test anything, and just dumped a diff on you?
I can feel your excitement
It's rushing onward

@Sickest plenty of us -- just not at the time you dropped by, sorry!

Well, I just got shipped an SU jacket and some other SU branded things. So I'm gonna take this as an indication that I should try to answer stuff on SU :P
