Looks like the bug I had with ubuntu also affects fedora.

Bob

@allquixotic Did I ever mention how much I hate government websites/accounts? -_-
Bloody Centrelink site (equivalent of US SS, I guess) has been giving me grief for a full year.

Someone just suggested that I could solder a second ram slot into my brix

ESPECIALLY considering that I have more ram than I need on it

@Bob True, But crystal reports does suck goat balls.

I've had the joy of installing it, which needed to be done in a very specific order.
Enable one option to early -> reimage and restart installation.
NOT FUN
Then again, enterprizy software does not need a proper uninstaller

looks like loads of fun, wish this stuff would just work right the first time. There is also a Q on how to simply print all the contents (not sure if it was ever answered), because frame data is not shown in full.

2:05 PM
hello
can I get a review on my Q/A in above link ?

2:17 PM
@Psycogeek is it bad should I delete it ?
never mind

@Bhathiya-JaDogg-Perera: we don't generally critique questions in chat
that's what upvotes/downvotes, edits and comments are for

@JourneymanGeek no worries thanks anyway

3:02 PM
@Bhathiya-JaDogg-Perera Use <kbd> for keyboard keys, not UI elements

Bob
ugh. I want a Micro USB breakout board, but they cost a good 5-10x their price in shipping -_-

A: How do I partition a new hard drive with no OS? Windows 7

Michael KjörlingAs was found out in the comments to the question in discussion between Jason and McScribble, the problem was caused by the hard disk drive not being connected.

...no idea what that means

It is common knowledge that cars sold in Brazil are among the most expensive in the world. When made direct currency conversion, cars sold in the United States come to be two or three times cheaper than those sold in Brazil. When one takes into account the purchasing power of each country a comparison is even more unfavorable to the Brazilians. When you take based on the average American salary of $ 46,440 annually, are needed 143 days (4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days) of work to buy a Honda Civic Sedan LX with manual transmission, the entry model available in the United States, sold for $ 1

So you're saying you want to be a car importer?

@OliverSalzburg pastes new inphographic showing crazy brazilian taxes

3:32 PM
pastes new inphographic showing kafkiesque brazilian laws to open a business
@Bob dx.com usually offers free shipping
I bought stuff there twice, once it took two months to arrive and once it took six :(
BUT AGAIN, YOU DON'T HAVE BRAZILIAN MAIL
An australian postman bitten by a poisonous desert snake is faster than Brazilian mail

Bob
@ThatBrazilianGuy they'd need to have the product for that to be any use

dx's shipping for small stuff sucks

They're opening a warehouse in Brazil so it will suck a little less for me :)

;p
I saw

Bob
3:40 PM
@ThatBrazilianGuy random assorted breakout boards != microusb breakout board
-_-
yaknow, I did try all this already

I'm probably going to consolidate my orders in future

Bob
adafruit, sparkfun, etc., have em, buuuut... shipping
ebay has plenty of sockets, but they're all smt

Bob
I don't feel like soldering smt to 24AWG wiring at the moment :P

...to be honest I don't even know what a breakout board is .___.

3:42 PM
lol
surface mount

Bob
@ThatBrazilianGuy generally, it's a nice way of converting those tiny little SMT pins to something accessible for humans

Surface-mount technology (SMT) is a method for producing electronic circuits in which the components are mounted or placed directly onto the surface of printed circuit boards (PCBs). An electronic device so made is called a surface-mount device (SMD). In the industry it has largely replaced the through-hole technology construction method of fitting components with wire leads into holes in the circuit board. Both technologies can be used on the same board for components not suited to surface mounting such as large transformers and heat-sinked power semiconductors. An SMT component is usually smaller...
ahhh

@OliverSalzburg thanks for the edit.

You're welcome

I'm kinda debating getting one of these dx.com/p/…
wee bit pricy for the size but its IPS and full HD
and probably fairly useful for me

3:54 PM
@JourneymanGeek It says 1280 x 800

Bob
> Physical resolution: 1280 * 800
Resolution range: 640 x 480 ~ 1600 x 1200 (adjustable)
Translation: you can make it blurry as fuck if you want to

lol
I clearly generally have shitty monitors ;p
@Bob: eh, I'd likely run it native for dealing with my home server box, and other random screenless boxen ;p

Bob
...I have a multimeter, auto wire-stripper, spool of wire.
I have no ruler O_O

Just when you thought Google was the good guy...

Bob
4:19 PM
Is that you, @ThatBrazilianGuy?!

4:48 PM
@DemCodeLines Ah, the guys that implemented a Youtube app which automatically blocks ads and now they're confused why Google doesn't like them
Probably a very fine, unbiased read

Bob
@OliverSalzburg Except the whole adding ads and still being blocked.

> With this backdrop, we temporarily took down our full-featured app when Google objected to it last May, and have worked hard to accommodate Google’s requests. We enabled Google’s advertisements, disabled video downloads and eliminated the ability for users to view reserved videos. We did this all at no cost to Google, which one would think would want a YouTube app on Windows Phone that would only serve to bring Google new users and additional revenue.

> Our app serves Google’s advertisements using all the metadata available to us. We’ve asked Google to provide whatever information iPhone and Android get so that we can mirror the way ads are served on these platforms more precisely. So far at least, Google has refused to give this information to us.

> Google asked us to transition our app to a new coding language – HTML5. ... neither YouTube’s iPhone app nor its Android app are built on HTML5. Nevertheless, we dedicated significant engineering resources to examine the possibility. At the end of the day, experts from both companies recognized that building a YouTube app based on HTML5 would be technically difficult and time consuming, ... YouTube has not yet made the conversion for its iPhone and Android apps.
I wouldn't say they are confused. More like they're trying to comply with a company that's doing its all to not allow its apps on Microsoft's platform.
> It seems to us that Google’s reasons for blocking our app are manufactured so that we can’t give our users the same experience Android and iPhone users are getting. The roadblocks Google has set up are impossible to overcome, and they know it.
Best of all:
> Google raises concerns about our branding too. The funny thing about this point is that we’ve been using the same branding continuously since 2010 for an inferior YouTube app. Now that we have an app that gives users a fuller YouTube experience, Google objects to the branding (even though we’ve taken additional steps to clarify that we are the author of the app). Go figure.
If this was Microsoft, the antitrust people would be all over it. But since it's Google, it's fine.

And it's part of the official OST

8:04 PM
Ahh the new Taylor Swift video is adorable! :O
@Bob I seem to remember you telling me once that a dupe is a dupe. :P
But that robocopy answer is pretty genius!
i love u. so. much. npm created a node_modules huge and too long to delete. I then wrote a script that inadvertently made it longer while trying to delete. This saved my day. Thanx. — Dr.HappyPants Aug 1 at 14:03
ahhhahahaha

8:58 PM
Computers a spoiled sport, just when i was finnaly winning , it crashed.

@MichaelFrank not a fan of her in the "chav/twerking" bit. Slicked back hair and massive earring is not a good look on anyone.
also I give up ^

@JourneymanGeek thanks! yeah, the place the food recipes are supposedly from is in Delhi, though the manufacturing facility appears to be in Kolkata, which would have people speaking Bengali :P
