> Here’s an example to give you an idea of what it would take to get a SHA-1 collision. If all 6.5 billion humans on Earth were programming, and every second, each one was producing code that was the equivalent of the entire Linux kernel history (1 million Git objects) and pushing it into one enormous Git repository, it would take 5 years until that repository contained enough objects to have a 50% probability of a single SHA-1 object collision. A higher probability exists that every member of your programming team will be attacked and killed by wolves in unrelated incidents on the same night.

What would be a good way to go about making my Win7 laptops WIFI card into a WIFI hotspot without filling my laptop with malware and other junk?

Put a password on it.

how would that do it?

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Pretty sure your clone is currently walking around the local mall :P

@MichaelFrank how would that do it?

2:32 AM
@MichaelFrank What if I dont have 2 Wifi cards and am already using my wifi card to connect to my house network? is there a way to virtualy duplicate wifi cards in win 7?

@KD8NXH It won't work that way.
@KD8NXH Actually, try this: sevenforums.com/network-sharing/…

2:51 AM
#HouseofDragonLord will be down for up to 2hr from March 7 @ 11am EST for security updates at my hosting provider https://gigaom.com/2015/02/27/xen-security-issue-prompts-amazon-rackspace-cloud-reboots/
Exact details about the Xen security vulnerability are under NDA.

@Bob: There's a odd tendancy for clones to turn up ;p
Might be a cairn, but they tend to have rougher fur

Planning on testing my ipv6 tunnel later ^^
Would be wierd connecting from a system at work, to a system at home through some system in australia ;p
and whoot, we have a new guy ;p

Bob
@JourneymanGeek O_O

I'd like to point out that XKCD took the extra step to register companyname.website
5
why is there a clippy
oh lol

@Bob: gogoclient works well for 'mobile' tunnels
All the official gogo/freenet tunnels that are free are horrible, best one I can get is aarnet.
hmm. Nope, still pretty shit

6:01 AM
@shelvacu: clippy is the channel easter egg

What browser does your Adobe Acrobat Reader uses when accessing links in document?

Shouldn't it use the default?

7:25 AM
@JourneymanGeek Yes but I thought it has function that let's me choose specific browser for opening links.

Maybe!
(I use other pdf readers anyway)

@JourneymanGeek Foxit?

Bob
@JourneymanGeek whenever your best option is routing through Aus, it's gonna be shit no matter what

I went from foxit (which got bloated) to pdfexchanger viewer (which wasn't bad) to sumatra (which is super light)
@Bob: not really the 'best'
Going ipv4 is probably the most sensible.
(my ip address dosen't change that often I guess)
But it was worth testing ;p

7:58 AM
I just realised all the windows systems in our main office are named after diseases ._.

Bob
...o.o

8:43 AM
@JourneymanGeek Foxit bloated = corrupted by money?

8:56 AM
naw, too many features ;p
Newspaper this morning reports dry weather for the next few weeks...
Its raining ;p
@Bob: yeah... we really don't like windows here

2 hours later…
10:38 AM
I'm a horrible person. I nearly used "do the needful" when replying to a co-worker ;p
2
(who happens to be indian)
@Boris_yo: I like sumatra cause its tiny and does nothing but display a pdf (and a few other formats)
No markups/annotations or a dozen other fancy features I don't need. Does read cbr/cbz files which is handy

Bob
@JourneymanGeek grep -i 'sir' | wc -l

11:10 AM
Lol. Not that bad

11:21 AM
So many Go thingies these days

11:56 AM
Picked up a new sd card. Its a strontium... Cheap and they claim a lifetime hassle free warranty.
Whatever that means :p

@DragonLord The custom built one eh ?

2 hours later…
Bob
1:59 PM
o.O
That actually looks pretty nice.
@JourneymanGeek Heh, more headphones on MassDrop... I think I have enough now :P

Bob
@JourneymanGeek whoops... I was trying to peel the QR code off the pistons, and accidentally smudged the ink -_-

hmm
32 gb strontium microsd (for some reason normal SD cards are hard to find)
(and this is the first time I've ever seen their products in a store ;p)

Bob
2:17 PM
I don't even know the brand

;p
They're localish

Bob
> Australia
!!ok
I still say I've never seen it :P
Huh, apparently their flash drives are available here staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=strontium&spos=3
Pretty expensive per GB, though

Bob
There's even RAM o.O

this is vaguely cheaper than my other options

Bob
2:26 PM
> Manufacture : STRONTIUM

Condition : New

Date Added : Feb 13, 2015
> Strontium RAM Module - 512 MB - DDR SDRAM - 400 MHz DDR400/PC3200 - DIMM
> Manufacturer Website Address : strontium.biz
Wow, they actually use a .biz O_O

1 year replacement with a new unit, 'lifetime' replacement with a refurb at their discretion
Yeah, and their webpage is somewhat dodgy looking ;p

Bob
@JourneymanGeek The Samsung MicroSDs I got are 10 years
Except the shop put stickers over the warranty label
:S

lol
@Bob: considered samsung, but these were marginally cheaper

Bob
LIke, little bits of white label sticker right over the little 10 warranty circle

and what the hell, its backed up anyway
loool

Bob
2:28 PM
@JourneymanGeek They were $9 for 32 GB at the time. EVO UHS-I

... nice

Bob
No idea why.
For a week or two a whole bunch of stores across Aus had them for $8-$12
Oh yea, the one I got => ozbargain.com.au/node/156131
@JourneymanGeek very very dodgy => i.imgur.com/cl3fzCO.jpeg
But, yea. Prices are back up now to a more normal ~$20-$30/32GB

yeah
this was around there
Was pondering 64 gb but pricy ;p

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Ya, thinking about upgrading my phone's SD card, buuut...
Also, screw the S6

Bob
2:35 PM
S5 sounded good. Waterproof, replaceable battery, SD slot...
S6? Nope. Let's make it thinner! Let's put a QHD screen in!

pondering a future one + or a moto when my moto G eventually gets retired

Bob
f off
@JourneymanGeek And Sony might stop making phones. dammit.
I might end up with LG...

Bob
I actually rather like Xperias.
Also, waterproof.
@JourneymanGeek Oh, how could I forget. YotaPhone2... I actually kinda want to buy one now :P
Just wish it had 3 GB of RAM

2:39 PM
Hi all. Just curious. Some of you might have seen this question. The intro (I lost some VBA code and now can you help me) isn't quite encouraging, but that question itself is a valid SU question, right? So why the close votes? Shouldn't we encourage the user to explore the solution himself (by giving stimulating comments) instead of sending a grumpy close-vote at him?
(or her)

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Trying to implement your 3 month rule :P

Bob
Seriously, though, e-ink on the back sounds brilliant. Doesn't care about sun-glare, lasts effectively forever...

works for me ;p

Bob
I wonder if it has a backlight.

2:49 PM
(especially when you realise you have 100 quid left over from last month)
._.
not 89 cents ;p
/me can start saving for desktop upgrades now, yay!

What browser does your Adobe Acrobat Reader uses when accessing links in document?
@Boris_yo It's Google Ultron, obviously.

5:41 PM
@HackToHell Both systems are customized.
The speakers are not selectable parts, they're part of the system chassis
My current Clevo system (built by Sager Notebooks) simply has better sound than my old laptop.

5:56 PM
Any use from this website? meterfy.com

9:31 PM
@Bob exactly. if they do this to the Note 5, I'm going to throw a tantrum, because I'm not sure if there are any other Verizon LTE phones that still have SD and replaceable battery.
if they have SD and no replaceable battery I might buy it, but I won't buy it without SD storage
