Anyway, the comment I was going to make was: What if two guys walk into a church that opposes same-sex marriage and tell church members they recently got married at the church down the street? Is that a civil marriage? It's not really that simple.
@BruceAlderman I've read a lot of people poking holes in the biblical definition of marriage. But they always seem to neglect the incredibly important words of Jesus concerning the original construction of marriage: "In the beginning it was not so"

@PeterTurner I believe that verse is referring to divorce. You might make a case that it's referring to the courts (men) deciding what God should. Maybe that's what you mean.
