@El'endiaStarman Is this a new site?

Check out this guy:
How have I not met him yet!?
I invited him to chat. Hopefully he'll come.
In Rome too. Seriously, I'm jealous on several levels of this guy.

4:41 AM
@fredsbend Yup! Still in progress though. Around 50% done with the first go-through, I'd say.

5:26 AM
So I just had a chat with the "Gnostic Light" guy... he's an interesting fellow...

5:57 AM
@ShemSeger Indeed.
@El'endiaStarman Cool. You going to keep your wordpress blog or will this replace it?
@ShemSeger Yeah, I still read because he's so persistent. And there is consistency within his own framework. As far as I can tell, he doesn't contradict himself.

@fredsbend - he seems to know what he's talking about, but I have a hard time following anything he says.
I tried asking him where he gets his doctrine from and his response was, "Do you really think that with all of the people in the world with the Holy Spirit that no-one would have the Gift of Knowledge?"

@ShemSeger Right. I mean, there's been a clear development of ideas since I've been reading him. It's also consistent. But it's very hard to understand or make sense of it.
In other words, his words don't have the mark of a typical crazy person.
Yet, no one here can make sense of it.

@fredsbend I'm curious to know if anyone else believes the same way he does, or if he's a religion of one...

@ShemSeger He did say once that he has prophecy and knowledge, but not teaching and something else.
Sounds frustrating.
@ShemSeger Well, he says he's married and has kids. Maybe at least his wife understands.
@ShemSeger I think in fall 2013 we had a guy in here that claimed that he was the only one alive today with the true knowledge and gospel.
His evidence was the scripture that the gate into heaven is narrow and the gate into hell is broad, therefore, most people are wrong.

@fredsbend - I don't mind him doing his own thing, but he just barely tried convincing me that one of my questions didn't make sense, because the true translation of Elohim was, "objects"

6:10 AM
I asked him how many people he thinks in all history got it right and he said five first, which means even most of the apostles got it wrong. He later said maybe 12.

He then proceeded to give me a bunch of scriptures where he replaced the word, "gods" with, "objects" as proof.

I then commented that heaven must be a lonely place.

really lonely

@ShemSeger Yeah, see now that's where parts sound crazy. Why should that word be understood today as objects? I've never heard him support that, just assert it.
@ShemSeger Is was This guy

@if you look at the discussion i had with him, you'' see where he says that all the bible translations are wrong, and then proceeds to relate the Old and New testament to Newtonian law...

6:13 AM
you can search this room for his name to see all that stuff.

This site certainly does attracts all types doesn't it?

@ShemSeger Makes it fun. Life is really only fun if you meet new people, even the ones that are very different.

@fredsbend - Oh dear... I'll have to check tomorrow and see what he says. Good night.

6:43 AM
@fredsbend As I wrote when I saw it on facebook: "Typical bad journalism misusing linguistic research to say nonsense! English is missing one of the basic colour words: the one to distinguish light from dark blue. It's true that our language does influence our thinking: pink and red seem much more distinct than two equally different shades of green. ...
But I'm not aware of any research showing how the basic colour terms arose, and it's definitely nonsense to say that no one saw blue until recently!"
@fredsbend It's extremely rude to attempt to diagnose anyone like this, but my guess would be that he's showing some of these symptoms
"literal interpretations and miscomprehension of nuance, use of metaphor meaningful only to the speaker", "may fail to detect whether the listener is interested or engaged in the conversation", "attempts by the listener to elaborate on the speech's content or logic, or to shift to related topics, are often unsuccessful"
"have difficulty understanding figurative language and tend to use language literally", "have particular weaknesses in areas of nonliteral language that include humor, irony, teasing, and sarcasm"

@ShemSeger I think your dream is a projection of your inner struggles. I'm not sure it can mean anything specific but it represents your present turmoil. The uncertainties about life are blowing at you like a storm. You are asking God to help you and God is going to help you or is actually helping you now.
The ship stopping after the storm is difficult to interpret but I think it simply means you will have a stable life after the storm. It could also be a warning that you would stop moving forward in life(or spiritual life) but since I can't see your dream firsthand it's hard to interpret. It depends on how you felt when the ship stopped in your dream.
I hope that helps. :)

@fredsbend I'll keep the Wordpress blog for now, but I do want to figure out how I can link the two places so that when I make a post on Wordpress, it is also visible on Starman Innovations. Significantly harder than I thought it'd be...

3:20 PM
Public Service Announcement: As proposed on meta we now have a room reserved for your long running general theology debates. Kindly keep the din over there and out of here in the foyer.

@ShemSeger I don't think anyone else follows his doctrine, but I do know he identifies as Catholic and attends Catholic worship.

5:52 PM
@curiousdannii Yes, I'd rather not start that.
@curiousdannii I've read a bit recently on color words development. It is very interesting to consider that other languages and cultures have different words for different shades.
That study reminded me of some study I did into music.

6:28 PM
The way we organize music now is pretty universal. But many don't realize that notes are only a small part of an infinite spectrum
The average person can hear up to 8 distinct sounds between each note.
But having only the 12 per octave doesn't mean that we can't hear or perceive the hundred others.

Regarding this closed question:

Q: What does the Bible say about vegetarian diets?

jazzzIs there any verse in Bible that says something about being a vegetarian or non-vegetarian? I know God set human beings above the other creatures, but what does it say about whether we can kill them?

I was thinking I could turn it into an overview question. "What is an overview of the biblical approaches to vegetarian diets?"
Any opinions or suggestions?
Hello, @SabreTooth. I like your new avatar.

8:11 PM
The general form I'm coming up with to salvage some of the better, more interesting "What does the Bible say about x?" is to turn it into "What is an overview of the Biblical approaches to x?"
Should I make a meta post?
I think this is rather ingenious.
I'm finding that the best candidates are topics that are not too broad and only have a few extant opinions on it.
The problem, of course, with such edits is that the answers may not be in line once the edit it made.
It's a double edged sword, but I say "The site is living and changing. That's what we have comments for. I have an auto comment that reads 'The question has significantly changed. You might want to edit your answer.', which is exactly for this purpose."
Maybe this one. The body kind of rabbit trails especially in the "Edit" section.

9:04 PM
@fredsbend But it helps me personally to understand any reactions I have. The symptoms seem to fit pretty well.

9:27 PM
@curiousdannii Some of them, yes. But we aren't doctors nor have we given him a proper evaluation (which necessitates meeting him in person). If it helps you, please carry on then. Me personally, I find it sometimes helps and sometimes not. The major issue I have is that I don't want to offend him.

10:23 PM
So this is like the third time he's threatened to leave:
@fredsbend I guess I'm just too stupid to ask questions on this site because, instructions say you should tell what research you have done on your own, so that people don't waste time telling you what you have already studied. That's what I did now after that my question was if there were some Scriptures or some information that would help me in my understanding. That is neither asking for an opinion or truth of any Scripture, only if there was some source to help. I must therefore conclude that this site is far too complicated for my simple mind, and will no longer waste your time . — Bye 54 mins ago
