Q: Are leading questions desirable?

WardI've noticed a couple cases recently where a question was asked and it seems very clear that the person asking knows the answer or has a certain answer in mind but they don't explain why they're asking. In one case, the person asking has [Catholicism] as their top tag, but was asking about somet...

@DavidStratton I don't feel like the question is completely genuine, so I don't really want to answer.

@Zoe are you around?

@DavidStratton @El'endiaStarman @waxeagle @Caleb Can one of you guys get me the text to an answer on one of my questions. I saw it came in last night, but I didn't get a chance to read it. I realize it must have been a stinker, but I'm still interested. This one I think.
@AskElisha Are christianity related question on History.SE normally this poorly answered?

Q: Is there an effective way to design a realistic religion for a world?

CAgrippaWhen building any fictional world, perhaps especially a fantasy world, the whole question of religion is bound to come up. What are the gods? What do people believe in? How and where and why do they worship? And what effects or implications will that have? Then there are the sub-questions, such ...

@TRiG I just noticed this site yesterday. It is ... different.
The list in that top answer is pretty good. Interesting.
I've been wanting to get into creative writing for a while now, so I might be spending more time there.

> This would be a good answer arguing against Marian devotion, but it's not a good answer for this question. - curiousdannii

@El'endiaStarman I figured. Wax gave me a google doc or something the last time I had this kind of request.

@fredsbend How did he manage to make it so that only you could see it?

@El'endiaStarman I typically use link only sharing in a case like that.
it's not private information

@El'endiaStarman I don't see why only I should be able to see it. I'm not asking for an undelete. I just want to read it just once.

Ah, so information in a deleted answer is generally public information? Just invisible to most people to reduce clutter/other reasons?

5:28 PM
@El'endiaStarman basically, anyone with 10k can get it. So no problem screen capping it an linking it.

@waxeagle So I could even screen-cap it and post it here and there'd be no problem?

@El'endiaStarman Yes.

Hmmm...I guess that makes sense. I recall now that there are Meta posts with screenshots of deleted answers/questions.

@El'endiaStarman Thanks, guys. You're the best.

Haha, no problem.
I'm glad to have that misunderstanding of mine cleared up.

It's actually not a bad answer, just the wrong one as curiousdannii said. How can we convince users like that to come back? I bet there's much he could share.

@MattGutting ?

What the heck are you doing up at 2 in the morning? I was just curious because I hadn't seen you around in a while.

6:46 PM
@MattGutting sorry I didn't get a chance to get those references, I will get back to you with them.
btw, is it commonly believed Jesus's real name was Yeshua?
If not, what are the other options?
I heard that the name Yeshua means 'the saved' (note the past tense - please confirm for those linguists out there).

@publicstatic There's a few variants that I've seen, but I view them as similar to the difference between Jon, John, and Jonathan. They escape my memory at the moment.
But in a culture where Abram and Abraham have very different meanings and the name of a person was very important, perhaps it's a bigger deal than I think it is. The BH site is great for this kind of stuff.
