Q: What is the $WINDOWS.~BT folder?

ChinThere is a folder named $WINDOWS.~BT on the root of my C:\ drive. It is a hidden folder and is 75 MB in size. What is its purpose? Is it safe to delete it?

Protected because of the upcoming release of Windows 10. Many users will be asking about this as the Windows 10 upgrade uses this folder, making it likely that many new users will post low-quality answers. I expect to unprotect this question several days after July 29. — DragonLord 1 min ago
Was this the right decision?

IMO not really
I'd rather wait for actual issues rather than preemptively protecting

@The_IT_Guy_You_Don't_Like I just checked it, just for fun. It is a mass of logs from different areas, tiny bits of what might be concidered peronal info, a bunch of SQl logs. Most comprehensive log posting i have ever seen, and a strange way to post it.
Plus i think there are some other parts and pieces of the SQL database program package that got tossed in the mix. As if the user was told "find these logs here" and he just did the best he could.
~1meg cabbed , ~30meg busted out.
