What's the best way to find supply shops for electrical, HVAC, or plumbing supplies? The big-box stores are good for some things, of course, but I think supply shops would have a better selection and prices. Do most sell to the general public?

@mmathis check your local phone book. you may have to try a few as well (sometimes the first place you try won't carry the stuff you're after)
