@Aaron And they'll continue to sell them and make money, until a code change restricts their use. They do their job; in that they save lineman's lives, they're just not the most user friendly device available.
I'm concerned about the homeowner, as well as the lineman. Whereas the manufacturers are concerned about making money. If you know what you're doing, there is nothing wrong with an interlock. However, in most cases a homeowner does not have the proper knowledge to use a device like this. In my opinion, it's irresponsible for an Electrician to install a device like this in the average home.
