hmm.. In the wisconsin building code I found a table that confuses me a bit

anyone have any clue what significance the "house width" has?

or how I would interpolate that for smaller "house widths"

my garage door would be in a 12ft width of a 12x20

so technically I wonder if that opening is even supporting roof loads? I'd think the rafters would support roof while the header simply supports the wall and that's it
