grin Sadly, I've been getting nostalgic for the bad old days of when I'd play a system I'd barely know, like Rolemaster (aka Chartmaster) or Rifts.

[grin] In my game the only visible transit is a caravan, but it's a public transit caravan.

[grin] It's very much fate, in that it's narrative guidance by phrasal character descriptors with a point economy that lets you choose when to succeed.

[grin] I mean, she's a sapient sled dog raised in an underground bunker by a mad Canadian biologist as part of an army of dogs he planned to lead in a takeover of the USA. Socialization is not her strong point.

@BardicWizard [grin] I cheat. I have a Discord server for friends with a dedicated BESW-posts-everyone-sees channel where I put anything that seems interesting.

@goodguy5 [grin] It's a board and tokens, so it's mutable! But also in my day job I think a lot about what is "expected" or considered "normal" in certain ways of doing and thinking, and how that's not actually congruous with the normal experiences of the people I live and work with.

@NautArch I feel like it's probably true of most tags. [grin]

@Akixkisu yeah, I can see the grin inducing quality of that phrasing. 😊

[grin] It's obvious nonsense, D&D mechanics have no actual interest in modelling physical reality, but it can be fun nonsense.

@AncientSwordRage [flips through recently acquired rulebooks] The Sun's Ransom and External Containment Bureau don't even have magic items. [grin]

@KorvinStarmast Define "martials". <evil grin>

There's a premise for a couple of one shots that as soon as the players figure out what's going on, I'd expect a big goofy grin on their faces.

This is… not a one time theme. [grin]

[grin] I could've been less generous and mentioned Claire G. Coleman or Lani Wendt Young, both excellent authors who haven't gotten much international (read: American and European) attention yet.

[grin] Presentation gets eyes on your work once, but delivering a reliable and satisfying experience gets people coming back.

random twitter quote that got a grin out of me today:
Amber, Queen of Dragons @Farore_RPG Being a Dungeon Master means having a productive 30-minute writing session followed by two months of writer’s block

[grin] I love it as a GM when I can throw some weird problem or situation onto the table and then turn to the players and go "explain that, because I can't."

Apr 6, 2021 22:15
[grin] I've already got you in mine.

Fairy? Nope, as noted. The owls and bunnies don't do anything for me aesthetically, though the prospect of a bunny rabbit Crown Oath Paladin or Cavalier(Fighter) | Sir Peter Abbot | makes me grin.

I have some time to work in a warning/alert to see if they get to "un, wait, is there a dragon down there?" But not be too obvious. They are still sure that there is a cache of magical dwarven weapons down here somewhere. grin Sure, and the dragon is keeping them under it's pile of stuff. 🤣

[grin] Even when everyone at the table knew exactly what I was playing, there was always the counterspell or sliver deck that was going to win right now and people felt like they could deal with me later.
Dec 24, 2020 14:07
Oh wait; that's probably why the goofy grin; nvm, ignore me
Dec 17, 2020 09:18
[grin] No worries, it's mostly not that bad and I do like a lot of what it's doing.

[grin] I'm fond of characters that can steal abstracts and intangibles.

Or just never write sequels. [grin]

[grin] Most corsets aren't the "rearrange your internal organs" kind that movies love to use as a symbol of oppressed womanhood, but they're definitely fitted.
Oct 30, 2020 00:48
@BardicWizard I find that this becomes less of an issue as we get older. [grin]
